Cory
I went to Colorado last year and ran into this problem. Luckily the wonderful woman at the Colorado dept. Of wildlife was able to call NYS Dec and verify that I was in fact certified.
BizCT
I have mine in a safe since I got it in 1996 when I was 12. I take copies of it with me on out of state hunts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
beachpeaz
According to Colorado regs, you DO need a hunter safety certificate, and you DO need to carry it with you while you are hunting. I don't know if they ENFORCE it or not, since Colorado is one of the few states/provinces I have hunted and have NOT been checked by a game cop, but I know that is the reg. Colorado also requires that you have a certificate SPECIFIC to bowhunting, if you buy a bow tag. You are required to use their online system to put in for draws for whatever hunt you are trying to do. In order to create that account, you have to enter you hunter ID from whatever state you obtained it. It is then permanently on record for you to succesfully draw a tag and hunt. The regulation may in fact have some ridiculous old verbiage about having that on you, but it would never, ever be enforced. I would presume that is from teh old school days before computers when people had to literally carry all sorts of paper around with them because nothing was on file. Not arguing the regulation. I just know from experience that having your number is needed to even be in the CO system, which then allows you to hunt legally with or without actually have that certificate. Pygmy
I just looked it up in the CO reg booklet. It says that if you were born on or after Jan. 1, 1949, you have to have a hunter safety card, and you must carry it while you are hunting UNLESS it has been previously verified, in which case there will be a V on the bottom of your hunting license. I just checked my 2014 deer license, and it says HE CARD REQUIRED. The book says in order to get your HE card verified you need to take it a Colorado CPW office.
