Hand held GPS units?

Recommended Posts

Thinking about getting one for next year. Do you use one? How would you rate the one you have? I had one of the first Garman models and it was so hard to figure out and took too many steps to use. Needless to say,I sold it. ::)  I'm looking for something that won't brake the bank,is EASY to use,and is topo map friendly and maybe even birdseye view compatable and updateable through my PC.

I would think that with all the bells & whistles you want that a GPS with all those goodies would be quite pricey .

I had a Magellan SportTrack that i didn't know how to use and finally had a Computer / GPS Nerd look it over . He couldn't get it to work . It couldn't find the Satelites .

I bought a Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx and it works great . I use it sometimes to locate Geo Caches for fun and to mark my tree stand locations .

The Garmin 60CSx is a good unit for the money, I just saw one at Bass Pro Shop for just over $250.00. It is compatible with the Delorme Topo USA software, removable SD mem card up to 2gb.

Nice unit, It will be my next buy.

These phones are amazing..i also scan barcodes with the camera, it will then price and run the net for deals ..or tell  you who sighned for a package and when...creepy ...but cool...this phone can measure my speed by using its gps..i was 3mph slower than my sled at 60..and a funny app as a backseat heckler...having a camera, a thermometer, google map, topo map,  texting(silent communication, and up to the minute weather make this thing a must in my huntin bag..$100..phone..almost the cheapest thing...almost
