    Striped Bass

The fish was not that heavy, it was the forth of July, 45 lbs. Weighed at a bait shop, according to them that time of the year they are there thinnest.I was out drifting squid strips for fluke and snagged the bunker on the way out. That must have been fun trying to get that fish in the kayak.
  3. Too small unless it is a young one,put out a live trap with some caned sardines, you might just get it.

    Striped Bass

Congrats, I fished from my kayak in the early 2000's mostly in Hempstead harbor,it was great in the back for flounder.I landed a 53" male by the old navy docks just before the mouth of the harbor with a live bunker, but it was with my little tin boat,it still took me for a little ride.
  5. Look before you buy the older Garmin's as my Etrex, looking under the specs. is 10 percent accuracy .

    Bales of Hay

Hay bales work great when using your hunting broad heads it does not dull them as easy as cardboard that has glue holding it together,The foam blocks suck trying to pull the broad heads out.Hay bales only cost $ 2.50 each.
  7. You want to start him or her off without spending a lot of money, get a low poundage long or recurve bow. That is what they use in grade schools don't they.I started off with a cheap fiberglass bow and arrows when I was 10 years old and at 12 years old I shot my first phesant with it.They would let us in the local land fill at that time and we got good enough to shoot Rats.
  8. Good advice from everyone, But I think trying to get a tight groupe is a waste of time and arrows if you use broadheads as that is all I shoot also and the same brand, type and weight as are the arrows.Your are on a farm the must be pleanty of hay bales around, make a pile and hang 4 or 5 paper plates and try to hit them all in the center.Start at 10 yds. when you get good and hit them all in the center now move out to 20 yds. and then 30 yds. Then off of the back of a pickup or hay wagon, some people even practice shooting off of the roof of there house. Remember a deer , turkey , rabbit or whatever is not going to be on that same spot on a target.
  9. I hope you don" have a fish pond.
  10. I have heard more gobbling before the opening week and the first week.
  11. 12. Now that I live by my self and hate any food in a plastic container,Google is your friend. When I was young and just starting school My Mom who worked would drop me off at one of my two grandmothers one had 7 children and the other had 8 so there was plenty of food to be preped.by both.I learned at an early age how to peel potatoes and every thing else, the worst was grating horse radish around Easter. The next was de feathering chickens and ducks which my one grandmother had me do, because she sold them for meat.( HA HA as I am typing Right outside the window is a young tom, little 3 " beard ) So I learned at an early age how to prep. food and it payed off.
  13. That's cool reminds me of when I had a young buck stomp and kick one of my decoys and sent it flying. I had 2 bearded ones walk past my bedroom window about 20 yards.struting about and doing there thing looking for loving. This morning around 6:30 - 7:00 am.
