For me the Maa maa call by mouth is the way to go for attracting doe.  Do I swear by it, hell yea.  But I will say it usually only works the first time if they catch you.  If you are up in a tree this is a great way to bring in deer.  Doe respond well to it but they are cautious when coming in sometimes.  Other times they can charge in if you make the distress very high.  EX: High pitched and loud!  Indicating a predator is upon the fawn.

In deep woods my preferred calling consists of the doe can, medium size.  Two - three calls with the can followed up by a high pitched grunt (Indicating young buck, 1-2 years old.) about 5-20 minutes later.  Indicating more than one deer in the area makes bucks feel safer than coming into another large buck by himself.  At least that's the though process!  (Buck calling during rut.)  Doe in heat followed by tending grunt, bucks can not resist!!!

The sound might be a little distorted due to the GoPro cover but you will get the idea.  This call sequence was low and a low distress call.  Not indicating a predator on the animal but a fawn looking for mom.  The second video is what I am trying to imitate for the most part, again the 2nd video is not me but it shows how they call when distressed but not in immediate danger.  I try calling away from where I expect them to show, indicating the fawn might leave the area, so when they come in not seeing the fawn is acceptable to them.  Out of 4 guys we saw 16 deer, I saw 10 of them and we where all within 100 yards of each other.  I also took my first doe just after this sequence.

I have used this call many times just to view doe, this is the second time I used it to try and take one.  Works like a charm!

Maaa Maaama  Maaa!
