Heat/tape

This just crossed my mind.Since we have had some colder/temps does anyone use them?I have one for my well pump and for got to plug it in.No issues yet but with this cold snap got me thinking.Also what  else would you use them /heat tapes gutters rain barrel or anything else,

I have a small culvert that goes under my driveway so water doesn't drizzle over the top of the drive and freeze into ice.  That culvert gets frozen sometimes so I have a heat tape in it so all I have to do is plug it in and it melts out.

Plumber forgot to run pipes for kitchen sink when we had an apartment added to our house. They poured the slab foundation so he had to run them in the attic. Needless to say the cold water pipe freezes when it gets real cold. I put heat tape on it to solve the problem. BTW I used to use heat tape on my pump at a cabin I had in the Catskills years ago. The place I have now doesn't need it cause there is a check valve in the pipe. This is what the Well guy told me and I never had a problem.
