Zem18
So my Dad gave me his LeFever 12 gauge a few years ago and he bought a rifle to hunt with us at our camp. He was on a budget and bought a budget rifle. It is a Remington model 710 chambered in .270. He has shot it maybe 15 times total in the last 8 years and I shot it 3 times last year to sight it in. There are a few scratches on the barrel as he fell a few times while walking through the woods with it. Last year at 78 years old, he stopped hunting. He gave me the rifle and it sits in my cabinet. I use my .243 religiously and have no desire for the .270 and would like another handgun. If anyone has an interest in looking, let me know and I can take some pictures to post up. It isn't the prettiest looking rifle but it shoots straight. It is sighted in for 100yds using 135gr Rem Cor-Lokt ammo. Going prices range from $280 to $350. I would be close to the lower end if there is interest and you pay transfer fees. Let me know and we can talk specifics.
grampy
Maybe I'm wrong, but it being your dad's last hunting rifle it would be worth more to you then anyone else. But a new gun that you would use as opposed to one you won't is totally understandable too! Good price for a solid rifle.
Zem18
I totally understand what you are saying Grampy but the LeFever was his last hunting shotgun and that is going nowhere except to my son, and then his kids and so on. I still use it to rabbit hunt. He had no love for the 710 and only bought it because I told him not to shoot slugs through the LeFever anymore. Again, more value in another weapon than both of us have into it.
Huntscreek
A guy was just asking me about a 270 I'll pass it on.Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk
Zem18
Took some pics. Sorry some are sideways and upside down but you get the idea. Last ones are of the scratches I mentioned. Any questions just ask. I can take more pictures if you want to see anything else.
clayshooter25
I sold my Dad's Marlin 336CS .35 Rem about 5 years ago and have regretted it ever since. Think twice before you sell that gun! I practically gave away a Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe from 1983 and don't feel bad, but my Dad's gun will haunt me for the rest of my life. stoneam2006
And how is the action is it sloppy like the 770s are? I'll have to run down to local shop and look at one I'm in market for a 270Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Zem18
It is metal with plastic cover on the bottom. The action is a little clunky and you have to use some force to get the bolt down into place it seems. I've oiled it up and it works well just not as smooth as other rifles. Again this gun has no sentimental value to my Dad nor I. I have the weapon in my cabinet that does hold value, both monetary and sentimental.
