bart1
I am finally going to purchase a new bow. Looked at both the z7 extreme and the hoyt crx. I was looking to see if anyboby had some feedback to give me on either. This is going to be a big purchase for me so I would appreciate the commets. I held and drew both and I liked the crx a bit more.
WNYBuckHunter
Its tough to compare the two, you are talking single cam vs dual cam. You should shoot both before you decide, not just draw them. Just my 2 cents.
Geno C
i agree, the only way to get a true feel for the bow is to shoot both of them and go from there. i would make sure you take the smoothness and how forgiving each bow is into serious account. you can get lost in the speed world so dont base a decision off of speed alone. A dual cam bow will feel completly different then a single cam bow in regards to how smooth the draw is and also how forgicing the bow will be upon release. When it comes to smooth draw, being forgiving and speed ,mathews is a hard bow to beat... see howmuch vibration the bow creates because it will only amplify when you add a quiver, sites, rest and so on. goodluck with your choice! alot of guys can get lost with speed and the IBOs they base these bows on are "BARE BONES". no sights on the bow no fletchings on the arrows, nothing... they are all rated at a 30" draws so if your shooting a 28" draw expect to loose 20fps right off the bat with out any accessories on the bow. just allitle food for thought... bart1
Thanks for the replies! All the feedback is great and is making think about a lot more. I'm not to worried about the speed, I've been shooting a Royal Hunter from 1989 for the last four years and I know all the new bows are plenty fast for my needs...like you guys mentioned more worrried about the bow feeling comfortable to shoot. thanks again. rock
the crx has a stiff but smooth draw cycle if it was me i would get the rampage same cam same ata, braceheight 100 bucks cheaper. i shot both and they feel the same. z7 i have not shot
sodfather
I shot both a bout a month ago along with other brands and thought the Mathews was the right choice for me. But shot alot of arrows before I made my mind up.
RichZ7
I bought a new Z7 back in October 2010. I shot a bunch of bows at the shop and narrowed down to either the Z7 or the Bowtech Destroyer. They both shot incredible. The Bowtech felt a little lighter in my hand but I felt much more comfortable shooting the Mathews. Both were extremely smooth to draw. Speed wasn't a big deciding factor in my choice seeing that I was retiring my old Golden Eagle shooting aluminum 2219's with 125 grain Thunderheads. Either bow was an extreme gain in speed LOL. Price was basically the same for either bow set up with top of the line accessories (about $1300+) so price wasn't a factor either. I am totally pleased in my decision. Too bad I was skunked hunting this year...LOL. Good luck in your buying process....have fun shooting!!!! Rich
