hunter
Need help using a spring for water source. Camp had a system but is not working and looked marginal to start with. Last owner apparently formed a collection box out of racks and stuck a pipe in. He had a complicated system of storage tank and pressure tank with pump at the camp. Unfortunately it's not working now and wanted to try to redo with some kind of spring house to protect water from bugs, etc getting in. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I do know to have the water tested but the last guy was using it so I think it will test OK. Even if it's not drinkable I can still use it for toilets and showering and bring in drinking water until I can drill a well.

hunter
Just an update, I got the spring water flowing again to the camp with gravity. I am looking into a tank or barrell then will use a shallow well pump and pressure tank from one of the tool places for $150. Not enough flow to go tankless. Culvercreek hunt club
just curious on why the pressure tank? I would think you could get away with a plastic food grade 55 gallon barrel (the kind with the removable top for cleaning and such) and an on demand pump like this. http://www.sprayerdepot.com/Itemdesc.asp?ic=2088343135&source=Froogle 3 gpm is more water than you would ever use in a camp, I would think. hunter
The pressure tank was part of the pump set, it was small probably 3 gal or less. I thought it was the way to go so the pump wouldn't short cycle. I am looking into 55 gal barrels for the storage tank. I will check out the pump you gave me the link to also. Thanks Culver. Culvercreek hunt club
those are continuous duty pums and they hold up well. They can also run dry and replacement part are very easy to come by. I think the one I sent you will maintain 45# of line pressure.
