Crossbow and air travel.

Concerned about the reasonably priced x bow cases not protecting my xbow during air travel. 

I've read some are breaking down there xbows and putting them in a gun case. 

How difficult are they to break down? PSE fang currently, but looking to upgrade. Not too worried about it holding zero, as I'll check and adjust as needed.  

Anyone have issues with traditional xbow cases and airlines?

I haven't used the one I have for air travel but I get your concern. They are very easy to break down if you choose to go the gun case method. the entire limb assemble on the ones I have been around come right off easily with a few bolts.

When I flew with my Ravin it was no issue at all, had it in the factory case. Only thing I did was take off the scope. I packed scope, bolts and broad heads in suitcase.

I was hoping they would let me take it as my carry on but they said no so I had to pay the 2nd bag fee.

I think Plano makes a hard case. My Excalibur recurve xbow is very easy to take apart. Not sure about The ones with cams
