See bearded hens rather frequently.  Here one last yr at my cousin's farm.   Just talked to him today, and she's back raiding the ducks and chickens feed.

Funny story..  cousin was obsessed with this big smart tom. He couldn't deal the deal.  One morning he had him coming in.  He was hidden at the base of a fallen tree, and when he seen the beard through the down treetop, he thought he had him plucked, and cooked.  At the shot the bird flopped, and he breathed a sigh of relief.  Until the tom jumped up on the tree trunk 10' from him.  However, he never racked the action, and the Tom wasn't sticking around while he did.   The bird he shot was a hen with a 8" beard.
