Plus if he is just starting out shooting 500 yards with any gun just wouldnt be a good idea,thats just way to far of a shot for a new guy,,bring em to the range at 200 and see if he can even hit the target!!

Guys.....Here is the first paragraph from my OP on this subject:

"A friend called me to get my opinion on a rifle. A friend of his is looking to get ONE rifle (Good Lord, WHY?) to hunt everything he'll ever do. On the menu; deer, antelope, elk and some longer range shooting out to 500 yards on targets for giggles".

Note that I NEVER said anything about shooting an animal at 500 yards!!

500 Yards? By the time he gets to it, it will be gutted, skinned butchered and half eaten and the head mounted.
