apoallo
Does anyone know off hand what the NYS law is on distance to shoot or hunt near a building or dwelling for bow and or crossbow? I know rifle and shotgun is 500 feet.

Zhe Wiz
Does anyone know off hand what the NYS law is on distance to shoot or hunt near a building or dwelling for bow and or crossbow? I know rifle and shotgun is 500 feet. It's currently the same - 500 feet, though the DEC's plan is to reduce that distance for bows and xbows. SteveB
I have no problem with the 500 ft - I want to have a say in someone hunting 50 yds from my deck or bedroom window. If they lower it, you will still need permission to recover for when your deer makes it 51 yds before dying. Most who will give you permission to recover will give you permission to be under 500 ft IF they are asked beforehand.
