Youth Hunters License For Spring Turkey

I got a question. My son bought his 2011/2012 hunting license back in Sept 2011 and purchased his fall and spring turkey tags. Well he was 15 at the time and got a junior hunting license. This March he turns 16. Will he need to buy another hunting license before he can hunt spring birds this year since he is no longer a junior hunter, even though he bought his 2011/2012 hunting license ?

Hmmmmm good question ! I guess it's a question of semantics is he or was he a junior hunter blah blah blah.

Check this w/ DEC officer, you certainly would not want him to get "jammed up" .

Please post your answer whenever you get it I would be curious to find out ( I'm guessing they would want him to contribute to an "adult" priced license)

I would think his junior license would be good up to September 30th 2012. I would also, check with the DEC,. Would be interested in the reply you receive.

He doesn't need to buy another license as long as it is valid till 9-30-12. However he won't be able to hunt in the Youth season for turkey. The age class is 12-15 for youth hunters.
