The owners manual for my 07 Polaris 700 efi calls for 0w-40 synthetic oil. I've been using Mobil-1 0-40 since I bought it but the stuff is getting harder and harder to find. I was in wally world the other day, they didnt have the Mobil 0-40 but had Rotella 5-40 synthetic. Could I use this stuff instead?

Something tells me that may not be a good idea.I would check with Polaris or find a Polaris forum and look around to be sure.There has got to be a Polaris owner or two here that will chime in.I'm a Honda man.

I would not run anything but the Polaris 0w-40 Synthetic oil in it. The Sportmans from the late 90 to the mid 2000's had alot of trouble with the cam shaft and the exhaust lob wearing off. I bought one from my neighbor that had this problem. The old cam only had 1 oil hole per lob on the cam, the new redesigned cam had two lob oil holes and they where alittle larger in size.You can get the whole oil change kit at a Polaris Dealer for like $35.00 which includes the oil and filter.

yeah... I've hade good luck so far with the Mobil-1, 0-40 but I'm a little leery about switching weights. If I have to buy the Polaris stuff I guess I will, Its just that the dealers charge so much more. I can get Mobil and a NAPA gold filter for about $22

As long as it is synthetic and the proper weight, you should be fine. Dont use a different weight though. Look around at auto part places as well, you should be able to find it. I would buy it a case at a time, its cheaper and youll have it for a long time.

Yeah.... You're probabley right...I just hate getting $tuck by the Polaris dealer....
