California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Saturday pledged to empower private citizens to enforce a ban on the manufacture and sale of assault weapons in the state, citing the same authority claimed by conservative lawmakers in Texas to outlaw most abortions once a heartbeat is detected.

I disagree with what he is doing 100%.. however what did the Supreme Court expect when they allowed the Texas law to stand. We all knew it was a matter of time before liberals tried to use the same premises to ban guns.

This is not a real attempt to use this to enforce firearms laws it’s a shot at the Texas abortion.

Frankly both should be overturned

Well ones a right the other is not in the Constitution there's no right to an abortion in the Constitution so states can make their own laws on that.

When did the Supreme Court decide the Texas law could stand?  I only heard about the hearing.

They are allowing it to remain it place and told providers they can sure certain state officials if they like

Chef, you're referring to the certiorari before judgment, that's not a final decision.  that just allows Texas to keep the law until the SCOTUS rules on the issue.  Nothing has been finalized yet by the SCOTUS.

Correct but that law on the books opens the for for liberal states to do the same thing with gun control. It is a Irresponsible law, that has opened the door for other constitutional rights to be attacked

No, it doesn't.  The problem with abortion is it's lack of standing in the US Constitution.  It is never mentioned and is not enumerated as a right, especially a natural born one.  It was granted by the court, which makes it a privilege.  If the govt creates a "right", the govt can also remove it.

The 2nd Amendment is a right recognized from the beginning of this nation as being a "God given right" one is born with, to defend their life.  The states are going to fail in this attempt to retaliate against a Constitutional right that has no relationship to the govt granted privilege they are upset is being questioned.

Vindictive legislation has always been frowned upon by the SCOTUS for the very reason it is being proposed now.
