defrazzle
I have an older Gaspar Arizaga Side by Side in 16 Gauge for which I reload. Have been having a difficult time in finding empty hulls for reloading. I live in a small city and the 2 local gun ranges do not have anything to offer. Does anyone know where I can find some? Does anyone have a stash they no longer need? I am open to anything. Thanks for any replies - Ralf Plattsburgh, NY

Doing good, think they are on the 3rd loading and should be able to get a few more.
Bballhunter11
Midway has some made by bpi, also has Fiocchi but for a little more http://www.midwayusa.com/product/587870/bpi-rio-shotshell-hulls-16-gauge-2-3-4-primed-high-brass-bag-of-
defrazzle
Got 2 bags of Cheddite 16 gauge hulls last week. Unfortunately, the old Remington SP16 wads leave too much room on top to provide a good crimp. I had to order different wads that will work with the Rem Sp16's. Oh well, live and learn. Received the new hulls but I had to order new wads as the Remington SP16 did not work well. So I ordered new wads (Commander) AND over shot cards. Today I loaded first with the new wads and hulls and they came out good. When I used the overshot card they came out even better. Used 1 1/8 oz 7.5 shot. I tried using the Remington SP-16 AND the new wads AND the over shot card and they also came out well.
Setters4life
Try Downrange, Gualandi or Claybuster shotshell wads for your 16 ga. Remington's SP16 is for 1 1/8 oz. - 1 1/4 oz. depending on the case you're loading in. Not always a good fit in some hulls, especially if you're loading light loads. Precision Reloading carries both Downrange & Gualandi wads for 16 ga. as well as Cheddite and Fiocchi hulls. Graf's is another source and carries the Claybuster brand wad as well as Cheddite hulls. http://www.precisionreloading.com/ http://www.recobstar....cfm/2,204.html (DR16 wads) http://www.grafs.com...categoryId/438? (Claybuster wads) http://www.grafs.com...categoryId/413? (hulls) http://www.crownbull...-516234500.html (hulls) I was fortunate enough to have some foresight and bought out all the Winchester WWAA16's one retailer had by me many years ago to preserve my 16 ga. shooting. They work well for 7/8 oz. & 1 oz. loadings depending on the shotshell brand and I use them mostly for hunting. And I still load old paper shells just for nostalgic kicks. Remington used to sell unskived & primed 16 ga. hulls decades ago but those were days of a bygone era. Hope this info helps.

Thanks for the information...I'll take a look at the various web sites you provided. Does anyone know where I can buy lead shot nearest to Plattsburgh N.Y.? Albany? Watertown? I checked them all, but most are out of stock. The good info is that the wads and primed Cheddite hulls I ordered are great. Then I ran out of shot! I live in a small community and shot is not to be had. Finally found a website, www.rotometals.com that sells 25# bag of all sizes of shot. Paid 97.50 for 50 pounds of #6 with free shipping to my house. I do not know whether this is a good price or not, but m

Culvercreek hunt club
you can actually bring down your calculated cost a bit depending how many reloads you get from the hulls. And if you purchase the powder in the 8# it helps too,. The lead is the killer.

When I get to the second reloading I can put $0 for the hulls......this will give me a $3 dollar drop per box! So now I know my goal is to miss a lot when I go hunting. defrazzle
oops....forgot to add the cost of the primer for the second reload. Winchester 209 - $47.99/1000 or .05 cents per shell. Of course I did not include sales tax or shipping costs! 16 GAUGE SHELLS 1st Reloads = $9.82 2nd Reloads = $7.

Lead is out of sight again. It's truly a shame. I'm working off some old stock (#5 & #6) for hunting loads I bought years ago. I don't shoot skeet or trap as much as I used to because of the cost. I only have a bag of #8 & #7.5 left now. On one of the sites I frequent, some fellow buys "reclaimed shot" and swears by it. I may search that out as an alternative, at least for sport shooting for clays. If i get the info I'll post it back here. (Remember when primers were less than $1.00/100?) I never tried reclaimed shot so I do not know what it is like but for the price differential I buy new. Note that if you buy 2x25 pound bags the shipping is free and no tax! It was real funny when the mail man came to deliver the "small box" containing both bags! He said something like - What the h_ _ ll is in this box?
