Once or twice before flydown, VERY softly. Then every 20 minutes, if you sense them coming, step it up a little.

Yeah I've been doing the sparingly deal. Had a hen walk up 3 ft from me the other day. Never heard or saw her until she broke a branch behind me. Wish she was draggin a tom with her...or a jake for that matter.
