The act is nothing new.... In WWII, marines pried gold teeth out of dead Japs with thier bayonets...It was worth $35 an ounce.. It Vietnam, friends of mine took grisley trophies from dead Gooks.. I know guys who sent detached ears and fingers home, among other things.. War is a brutal event....Shit happens.. Re-arranging DEAD enemies is probably one of the LESSER evils.. The difference today is the technology that results in the EVIDENCE of such things.. Should this behavior be considered acceptable...?...Nope.... Should these warriors ( who probably have witnessed more horrors than most of the readers on this forum) be held criminally liable for doing what many warriors before them have done..?...Nope...

I do have to disagree with you on this. We are talking about kids here. I don't think many of them are developed and wish that kind of confrontation. As adults we can make these statements on our developed beliefs. Much like my neice. I would love to see someone try to tell me I couldn't wear a cross if I fetlt like it.

Shawn, you are correct: There are those on here who do "jump the gun" in defense of their own personal beliefs which they would have us all subscribe to. To promote their beliefs, they use the "holier than thou" approach: They know God; they know what God intends for us. Any of us who are not receptive are the bad guys. I have long felt that it is not necessary for me to wear my heart...or my politics...or my religion on my sleeve. I need not stand and recite the Pledge to be a real patriot...nor sing the national anthem. Those who wish to do so have my sincere respect...as long as they do not claim superiority over me. America has been moving toward multi-culturalism for years. We Americans are a tolerant people (except for those "holier than thous" that think they know what God wants. Hmmm....have they asked her?). If we did not want to arrive at this point, we should have torn down the Statue of Liberty years ago, and instead erected a "Welcome, Christians only" monument. I am content to live and let live. The hard core right wing Christians are not! They are far from it. It has been the practice of Christians over time to kill all those whom they cannot convert. To read some of the responses here...nothing has changed.

Nope..Never been shot at or directly threatened with a firearm.. However, I have been threatened with a knife, and consider myself lucky that I was not injured...I very well might have been injured or killed if a patrol car from Brooklyn's finest did not come down the street while this was taking place. This took place outside the Brooklyn Naval Yard in 1971. I made a vow after that, that if I ever NEEDED a firearm again, I would HAVE one. That's one reason I will not return to NYC..If I can't pack a pistol, I ain't GOING there..

I only meant that I dont think its a big deal if he didnt agree with the under god part. Not that I think it should be removed. If you dont agree with it, just skip saying that part of the pledge. Easy peasy.

I personally know someone that was there in Somalia trying to rescue that team. I asked him about that situation and he said no way the Marines should of acted that way. That's not the way we get trained. Bust them a rank or something and rotate those guys out quicker. He said they are spending too much time over there and it causes problems.
