  1. got these with a Sony S600 from a new set that I put in place a few weeks ago in Middletown,NY.
  2. got these last week with a Sony P41. this is the first otter I have seen here.
  3. excellent stuff. you caught that turkey in a nice pose.
  4. very nice; that is a dandy buck. anybody have luck seeing him during the season?
  5. You're right on all counts. Yep, cut a point on some wooden stakes and hammer em in there; usuall in a foot on two of water. I use the kwikee quiver type screw in mounts where you have the bracket on the camera unit and can just slide them on and off the screw in part of the mount.Losing them in the creek? Yep, happened a few times, now I'm a little better at watching the weather and setting them accordingly. But to get the best pictures you have to aim them straight away and therefore have to move them up and down as the water level often changes. You have to keep on top of it, but it's a lot of fun as well, especially when you're a trail cam freak like I am.
  6. This is a different set and a Sony P41. The darn hooded merganser pic was out of focus again. The muskrat finally took the dead fish bait but didn't offer up anything special, and the woody in the back was real far away, but a real unique pose, so I did a big crop on that picture to reveal the" little toy" duck.
  7. Not me, not lick of it. I think the whole scent control thing is blown way out of proportion to make $$$. From a hunting standpoint, when you consider the fact that your head gives off a very high concentration of your total ordor, it really doesn't matter that much what you washed and what you sprayed down. The "new" odor that your head constantly creates in the "here and now" cannot be contained. However they are very successful at marketing this "necessity". I see your point on the trail camera side of it though and would agree somewhat that it could be a factor in the short term.
  8. Yes, you are right on the money again. The last picture was the first taken and then the water level droped down some. I also cropped that 3rd picture a bit which answers your last post.Funny how these little wood ducks climbed up on that log anyway. They remind me of red squirrels as being pound for pound the best athletes in their class.
  9. Your exactly right. I have other pictures of this deer where you can clearly see the pedicles where the antlers were once attached. He's a little buck.Good eye!
  10. Winter went out early here in NY and the ducks are doing their thing. I moved this cam (Sony S600) five days ago and created a new set farther up the creek than usual. Got lucky with a nice pair of woodies.
  11. very nice "G". yep she sure does look like she's carrying. Nice color on that fox.
  12. Thanks all. To answer both, this is a Sony P41 homebrew and I have a very good builder that I use and buy them from him.
  13. Guns normally rely on igniting an charge which is the energy behind the projectile, thus the name "firearms"The energy of a projectile fired from a crossbow comes from the stored enegy in a set of bow limbs; big difference.
  14. Here we have a guy who cannot see who he is. He call others (and this can be easily found on the last few pages):1) lazy 2) cheater 3) whiner 4) total joke 5) dirty 6) idiots and then ends his post (page 82 reply 1222) where he quoted me, by telling me "you can shut up now". Now at the top of this post if you all recall we saw ole flinger stating this: So it's clear for all to see why he has utter contempt for his fellow hunters; he hates himself as well.
  15. I already posted the facts that support the statement. Go find them, and report back. You do play dirty....aka cheat. Translation: again you have no facts but instead deflect while calling others:1) dirty 2) cheaters 3) and tell them to "shut up". I got to hand it to you though "flinger", you do score high style points for your side. Who could be a better voice for our side than you?
  16. You have absolutely NO evidence of this. Where are your FACTS? Shame on you for your blatant misinformation and compound bashing. Shame on me huh? Unlike you I have the facts to back up my statements, and yet once again you throw out the insults before asking for them. Kinda fits your style though doesn't it? You probably don't get around much if you have not seen completely incompetent compound bowhunters. Either that or you are in denial that many compound bowhunters could give a damn about practicing. I also guess in your world of evidence I guess seeing it first hand many times is not proof, so as you assume "shame on me". You sure do dish out the insults there flinger! Lets see, I have bowhunted for 22 years and have chased game with my compound in NY, Ontario, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, and New Mexico. 1) A guy in Missouri, the first day he came into camp with his compound asked me for an allen wrench to adjust his sight which was shooting very low at 20. He said "it was on last year when he shot it last and doesn't know what happened. 2) a guy in my own camp in Trumansburg, NY was shooting way off at the practice target and asked me which way do I move my sight to get back on. 3) a guy in New Mexico Elk camp) came into camp with a bow that was still in the box and asked me if I could help him set it up because he didn't know much about compounds. And yes he intended to hunt with that bow. Most guys that have been around have seen many blatant examples of the incompetent compound bowhunter, but I guess you are one of the few who have not, and therefore are willing to call those you have "blatant compound bashers" and then do the "shame on you" thing. News flash fling / thing; I am a compound shooter. So all in all well done there "flinger". Keep up on your assumptions and insults, it is a direct reflection on where you are coming from.
  17. I already have given you facts about OH and VA. Don't believe me? Go and validate them. I would love to validate those facts. I didn't see them before, why not post them up again and underline these facts this time so I can check them out; and then more importantly explain your quotes: "Crossbow growth comes at the expense of bowhunting". "the proof is already evident that crossbows cannabilize bowhunters". Explain to me this proof that you speak of in the 2nd quote. Thanks for the reply. At least this time you did not say I was playing dirty or call me a cheater for asking for those facts, and then tell me to shut up. Thanks again!
  18. you mean as do a very high percentage of compound hunters. Pull their bow out the night before the opener and haven't shot it since last year; normally in season shooting, and then as you say "think they're good to go". First off, noone has to practice.Sorry, but the very high percentage of compound bowhunters that "dust off" the night before soundly defeats the point that you attempted to make. Slob hunters come in all forms. Bowhunting with a compound doesn't necessitate practice; that is a personal choice.
  19. But still you supply no facts to back up those claims.Your 1st attempt at deflection was to say that: 1) I "fabricated that notion"; that was proven to be your exact quote' date=' so now you accuse me of: 2) "[b']playing dirty[/b]" and 3) cheating Cool, "arrowflinger" now defines asking for facts to support his exact words as "playing dirty and cheating". Translation: you don't having any facts; if you did you wouldn't be calling the cheater. Translation: another really lame attempt at deflecting the original question. You might want to try again and put up these facts you speak of to support your quote. I asked in the prior post: can you do that?; your answer was quite clear that you could not. Oh, gotta include that the last words of your last post was to say: hum, he wants me to "shut up about it now"; a very talented debater indeed. Translation? Priceless!
  20. Thanks for that info; I better give that call while the earth is still on it's axis. Who knows what might happen next? We all know what's happened elsewhere?Seriously kinda sad that people that need this to get in the game should should run up aginst such a wall of opposition.
  21. You are being obtuse. You have fabricated this notion that the only reason to exclude crossbows is because they hurt bowhunters, and continue to demand to know how they would hurt bowhunters. You demand an answer for a motive that you created for me. OK, let me get this straight; now you say: I demand an answer for a motive that I created for you. I created that motive you say; really. Actually I quoted you and then asked the question. this is what you said before I asked you to explain: First off explain to me how I "created the motive" that crossbows hurt bowhunters. It is quite clear that this was your quote. "crossbow growth comes at the expense of bowhunting", yet you say I both created that and now have the audacity to ask you to explain it. Obviously your prior post was only about ducking the question I ask and all about deflecting the truth, so I ask you again to explain that quote and to supply the facts that support that statement. This time you might want to try a little less emotion based "run around the question asked tactics" that you used in your last response, and actually get to some true facts that support your argument. Can you do that?
  22. That's really clever...you clipped everything else off to get the quote you wanted. That was the first thing you said and you still haven't explained how it affects you. You say you don't have to explain anything and then later call me arrogant. Hypocrisy? See, you just ignored all of the true explanation because it didn't match your agenda.....really smart. True, you say? Did you explain any truths about how you are affected there : I didn't see any. Wow... : BTW...can YOU say cannibal? Because that is what crossbows do to bowhunting....they cannabalize bowhunters. There are 3 crossbow hunters for every 2 bowhunters in OH....imagine how much stronger bowhunting would be if all of the physically able crossbowers used a bow instead of a crossbow. In VA, they lost 14,000 bowhunters in the first 2 years of crossbow legalization. Why? They took up the crossbow instead. Can you explain to me this weakness as you speak of "lost bowhunters"? Crossbow growth comes at the expense of bowhunting. It is ironic that you claim opponents to be cannabilistic when the proof is already evident that crossbows cannabilize bowhunters. Can you explain to me how crossbows hurt bowhunters. You're all talk but no real rational reasons have been put forth by you; only emotion. How many times do I have to request your answer to this very simple question. This is the part that really intrigues me. Where is this proof you speak of?
  23. I do not need to explain that to you, or anyone. You could not have said that any better. This is simply priceless stuff from the haters. Maybe we can archive this quote for future reference. Thank you for your reply! Can you say cannibal?
  24. First off.....that was not my "principle." Do not dare tell me what my principles are, or assign them to me. Talk about arrogance! Hum, that's funny, I quoted this on the last page: Better look again before you just shoot off your mouth. States like Alabama, even your adored Ohio, still have separate definitions of "bow" and "crossbow." They allow them to be used during archery season....they do not pretend that a crossbow is actually a bow. Even a child could tell the difference...LMAO. Because I never said the sky would fall....that is simply you putting words into my mouth again, which is a clear sign of a desparate and losing debater. I say that crossbows do not belong in bow season.....whether there is a negative repercussion or not. Just like guns don't belong in bow season, or like centerfires don't belong in MZ season. They simply do not belong....and no amount of whimpering on your part changes the principle of the matter. Suck it up and play by the rules...or don't play at all. "they do not belong" you redundantly say, but you cannot provide a coherent or rational explanation on how that affects you as a bowhunter. Please explain.
