  1. He was shot with a Remington .308win. Butcher said between neck and shoulders. So thats pretty much spine.
  2. Thanks for the comments guys! Yes you guys are 100% right the pictures dont look good, this was because it was 1030 at night and we were exhausted from dragging the bear. I will post more pictures. It was killed in Broome County. The buchter i used is by Albany ill get the full name.
  3. ^^^ To have a good friend it takes to be a good friend at the same time!! Amen to that! IKARAVIAS1----Right??
  4. Dont doubt yourself that you wont see a bear! My father has been hunting this land 30 years and never seen. I have seen 5 the past 4 years
  5. Yes the taxidermist could not believe how big the head was!
  6. He told me total meat was 52 lbs. Steve I weigh 230 and im 6 foot. I could not for the life of me move that bear. If it wasnt for my buddy that drove over an hour to bring his quad that bear would still be in the woods.
  7. Hey guys I had a pretty nice successful hunt opening day and got a nice sized bear. This was my first bear ever, and I decided to bring it to a butcher and taxidermist. The butcher told me to give him half the meat and he will lower the price, and I agreed. This bear weighted 400+ dressed. The skull was 22 inches and was 6.6 Ft tall The butcher told me to pick up the meat and he only gave me 26lbs of meat? Is that normal? He weighted the hide and skull and it came out to be 140lbs. So if anyone has an idea on how many pounds I should have gotten shine your input.
  8. Sounds like he is going to be a better hunter than you. I say do it! Just remember the first time you went hunting, I am sure many of us wished we went sooner!
  9. Its a ghost! I have hunted on this property before and there is noway its a person. This place is in the middle of nowhere! Ikaravias sent me this picture once he got it! I brightened the picture to see it better. It has a tail? Beard? Sticks as legs? Waist is see thru?
  10. Ive used gunbroker and armslist. What are you selling?
  11. Biz- Congrats on the purchase!! I too purchased land this year and its pretty exciting I have to say. The closing took about a month even with no banks involved, not sure why and didnt push it. One thing I didnt do is get a title company involved. Why pay extra $1,500 I was being charged? Some peopel told me to do it some told me not too. As far as putting posted signs I havent done that yet. I will purchase from the website that was posted further back. I put up cameras right away to try and find a deer pattern. I think you should do the same and youll get a better idea and see whats on the property. Congrats and good luck!!
  12. I appreciate the feedback guys. This is what the gunshop sent me as to why i cant own it in NY. http://www.governor.ny.gov/sites/governor.ny.gov/files/archive/assets/documents/RiflesBannedFeatures.pdf Any more feedback?
  13. Hey guys maybe someone can give me some input. I was about to purchase a browning bar boss and was told its illegal to own in NY. This shop that owns it is in fact in NY,hes selling it on the internet. Apparently the muzzle is what makes it illegal and its semi auto? Any help truely appreciated.

  20. Nice pictures guys!!! Ive been going hunting since 8yo and started going at 12 with my dad for deer. I remember times when I would cry if I couldnt go. But I always managed to go with my dad. Its the best to get young ones out early. I learned alot from my dad!! You older men know plenty of tricks in the book. Its two years since My dad passed away and I sit in his favorite hunting spots and I still feel guided by him!!
  21. Browning Bar. 7mm Magnum. 150gr
  22. Memories is what will last Forever!!! These stories are painful to read that bring tears but in the end we have to realize what we had/have and who we learned from. I have lost my father 2 1/2 years ago (60yo) due to lung cancer. He taught me all the ins and outs of hunting. The stories he always had were interesting and funny and one of his favorite ones was that he would always say is that every deer he killed he had a cigarette(wish he quit 30 years ago) in his hand. Many people wouldn't beleive it. My dad was there when I shot my first deer and it was an amazing feeling. I remember I was 18 and ran to him hugged and kissed him out of joy. My last deer I killed was from sitting in his one of his favorite spot. And I had made a recording right after I shot a deer for my dad. I would give anything to go one more time with my dad. Cherish what you have and appreciate it as much as possible. Keep the stories coming!!!!
