Been quite a few years since I have had any Ducks here on the farm and I have been seriously thinking about getting up a small flock for both eggs and meat. I actually prefer Duck eggs over Chicken eggs and love a roasted Duck to eat. Khaki Campbells are the breed I lean toward as they are the best egg layers and are of a medium size, I would not mind having a few Runners also, they are pretty scrawny as far as eating, but they are close to the Campbells when it comes to laying eggs, their stance and posture reminds me of a Penguin. The downside of Ducks are they can be messy, so their living area has to be well thought out. Al

Looks like it fills it's intended purpose just fine. Al

Those big knots are called burls and can be highly valued by woodworkers as they sometimes have spectacular grain running through them making especially nice knife scales. Al

I am too lazy in my old age to build any coops, I buy Amish Sheds or coops and have them delivered and set them up the way I want. Craig's list and facebook marketplace has many to choose, all different sizes and prices. I will be having one delivered in the spring for my pigeons. Al

I just checked out the 410 Lee Loaders on ebay and the prices have gone up, they average over $250, pretty good profit for something that sold for $10 Heck I can shop around and buy a used Mec for that kind of money! Al

A buddy of mine used a simple Lee Loader to put up 22-250 cartridges, he shot them out of a Remington 788, the economy bolt action and he was printing groups well under an inch. I have a Lee loader for 20 ga that I use to put up non toxic shot shells, I wanted to get one for 410 but they do not make them any more, the used ones are going for insane prices on ebay, $200 not uncommon. I ended up buying a used 410 conversion kit for my mec. Al

There was more to it than that pal, he was constantly posting filth to get his jollies, something wrong with someone that pulls that crap! Al

I look at this little press a couple of different ways. It allows someone who wants to give reloading a try the ability to produce quality ammo at a low price. To load a few rounds for hunting each year it will do the job and be a good hedge against shortages especially for those that have arms chambered for old and obsolete cartridges. I would not recommend it for someone that wants to load in quantity and does a lot of shooting. This type of loader can also be used right at the range when building and testing loads. Lyman made a small plier's style hand press for many years that was used in that fashion. I just got a flier in the mail from a vendor that sells reloading equipment, like everything else these days the prices are getting pretty high. Al

I did something like what you are talking about Doc, I wrote about it in an older thread.

Lee has come out with a low priced kit that will load quality ammo for a very reasonable price of $100, it contains all that is needed to load a specific cartridge. Something to think about if you are on the fence about reloading and think you may want to give it a try. Al

It may be dead to you Porky but it is just fine for those of us that stayed, go troll with your filth somewhere else! Al

I have no problem with the bench I have now, I got the plans from Outdoor Life's shooting editor Jim Carmichael, they were in one of the books he authored. Now if I were to replace it I think I would get one of the benches I see advertised on craigslist from time to time during the summer. They look to be well made and are priced within reason. Al

About the only thing I am going to change is putting up some side panels, probably just a tarp to keep autoloading handgun brass inside where the empties can easily be found instead of flying out on the ground making them hard to find in the grass. Al

Well it was nothing fancy or too expensive, consisted of corrugated plastic, but it kept the sun and rain off while shooting and has held up for quite a few years. I have some steel laying around so sometime this Spring I will get at it and put on a new roof. Al

If money was no object I think a track loader with a high flow snowblower would be the ultimate snow removal machine. Al

Living in snow country with a long driveway and snow removal around the house and barnyard has forced me to look at every angle for removing it. Shovels, regular walk behind snow blowers, trucks with power angle plows, I have settled on a mid size tractor that can utilize quick attach implements for the loader and a three point blower for the rear. I have a power angle plow mounted on the loader most of the winter, along with the blower it has been the best all around solution for me. Al

TYM has been coming on strong and have become a major player in the tractor world., I have owned several Tractors and this TYM has been the best of the lot, she has done a lot of hard work for me. Al

This winter has easily produced the most snow in the 40 years I have lived in my current location, I would say it rivals and may surpass the blizzard of 1966, ungodly snow falls. Al
-
At it again today, been getting at least a foot every day for several days in a row, The TYM Tractor is sure earning her keep this winter. Al

You got out of Dodge just in time. I can take cold weather but this constant snow makes for a lot of extra work, it also screwed up my mid winter small game hunting, I am too whipped form clearing snow to even think about hunting. Al

A for sure way to blow up a rifle! LOL

A good old fashioned winter, incessant snow and cold every day it seems, a lot of shoveling, blowing and plowing, I am getting worn out! Al

Exactly!! This board gets a ton of readers and views.

Not for me, it would not be what I consider hunting. Al

And here we go again! Can you former members just not let it go any leave us alone? Not one thing has changed for me when it comes to this board, I will use it the way I have since I joined. I am here to gain information about the outdoors and share anything that I think that may help others. If I make a post and just one person gains something from that post it was worth my time to post it and worth their time to read it, it is that simple. I am not going anywhere, I like it here just fine and will never join the other board. Al
