  1. I've seen training where DEC stated they had the ability to enter any wooded areas without warrant or PC however I haven't really worked with DEC so even though you need to get some time on the job I'll let ya slide on that one. I'm gonna guess you'er a big hat, because you work with DEC, county because you said officer.
  2. A little hissy fit from the young pup? A criminal justice degree and you also know some cops? Vary good. I know a few myself and none of them would tell me I'm talking out my ass. Most of them would say they'd go into the theater after the guy and do the best they could to save innocent lives. But none of them have criminal justice degrees so maybe they'd be wrong too. Did they teach ya to lay down in school?
  3. I believe you are correct that in general law enfocement can only go where the general public can go but the rules are different for DEC officers. Any woods are open to DEC officers. However a caller can supply probable cause when certain crimes are alleged by mearly making a phone call to law enforcement. A telephone complaint for domestic violence may be all that is necissary for probable cause to search a dwelling to check on the safety of the occupants for example; even if the home owner is standing in front of law enfocement and refusing them entry they can force their way in.
  4. I think the other folks covered it pretty well. Had they easyer access to personal firarms for protection they had a chance to defend themselves. I suppose we will never know IF any of them were prohibited from carrying arms because of difficulties in being able to do so however I will bet that if the idea of carrying for personal protection were promoted rather than vilified then someone would certainly have been carrying. Better yet the bad guy would know that someone would be carrying and never attempt what he did on armed citizens.
  5. Did I insult you? Depriving your fellow good citzens of their liberty isn't doing something about the problem you wish to address it is only creating a newer and bigger problem.
  6. High five for the bike save.
  7. I've tried many times and so have others but haven't met with your same outcome. Maybe I'll give it another try this year it's no secret and I KNOW that DEC is aware of the poaching taking place; but I'll give them a reminder.
  8. Check that G-man I don't believe they need probable cause either; they have free rein to enter property.
  9. It is legal for DEC officers to go on private property without permission or a warrant. They only need a warrant to go inside a dwelling. I'd like to get in touch with those DEC officers who are actually doing something about the poaching I could use them around where I hunt.
  10. I never rely on a politicin to frame my principals. Just because some politician someplace says its legal, probably because of money, doesn't make it right, or fair, or sportsmanlike. You've seen this on TV. They attract deer with feed and when the deer get used to eating there they sit over the feed and shoot the deer when it comes to eat. No skill, no accomlishment; and you've probably seen where they aren't even outside but open a window to shoot off a bench in many instances. Those who shoot over bait will never know the thrill of the hunt or the joy of accomplishment. They are robbing themselves of the true hunting experiance. Deer have no defence against food and so to my mind it makes it unfair and wrong. They aren't hunting deer they are only shooting them.
  11. Excepting that it is too important an issue. Nothing is more important than liberty. Liberty is the reason for the 2nd amendment.
  12. It's unsportsmanlike. Takes all of the skill out of the hunt. Takes unfair advantage. Any boob can shoot deer over bait there is no accomplishment associated with it.
  13. I believe it was this incident that brought about the body armor drill. I may be wrong though and it may have been that one and some others combined. Anyway, the police at that time were trained to shoot center mass and the body armor defeated their pistol rounds and they just never thought to shoot them in the head. Most of the cops were too far away from the shooters for head shots with a handgun but not all were and those that were close enough shot center mass. Later training taught the body armor drill and also cops were given rifles for patrol so they wouldn't be out gunned like that again.. Joe blow with a 9mm and a bit of competance could defeat the guy. That is joe blow has a chance of defeating him if he tries. If nobody tries then the guy can't be defeated.
  14. Yet you can't wait to give up your liberty and mine too.
  15. I disagree. Instead as gun owners we should insist that the media cover those events when a gun is used to save innocent lives. Currently they only cover times like this when a gun is used to take innocent life. The NRA's only mission is to preserve our constituional guarantee to keep and bear arms.
  16. Fortunantly for the rest of us you are mistaken and gun ownership IS a guaranteed right.
  17. Which is exactly what everyone else there was doing. 50 some people shot, clearly that tactic didn't work.
  18. I hope you don't take this wrong but you are right that you would not be able to do it, you have given up before even trying.
  19. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/surveillance-vid-shows-71-year-old-concealed-carry-holder-opening-fire-on-would-be-robbers/ Here is how a 71 year old done it fellas. I'm sure you all could do it too.
  20. Keep in mind the bad guy isn't an action hero or heavily trained individual either, he's just a nut job and can be killed as easily as he is killing those around him. But, I can agree to disagree on this.
  21. There are clearly two choices, either attack and take out the threat or lay down and be a vicitm. And nothing says you have to go down the isles, climb over the seats. Do the best you can and in the end if all you do is draw his fire at least he isn't shooting at your family then. Clearly though doing nothing gives him the ability to shoot with impunity and that is worse case scenario for the innocent.
  22. Go to the threat. Advance to a position where you can take it out.
  23. The way to get your family out alive is to nuetralize the threat to them. If people practice the body armour drill than there is no problem stopping a person in body armour. You don't have to be a Navy seal to protect yourself or others just reasonably competant.
  24. I don't care about any UN treaty. I'm not giving up any guns period. They ban them good luck to them in coming and getting them.
  25. Id rather have a bunch of people shooting at the bad guy rather than the bad guy shooting who ever he wants. Even if the good guys hit one or two people there still wouldn't be 12 dead and 59 wounded.
