  2. There are lots of places in ny where seeing 20 bucks in a season is rare. Where I hunt in the dacks I never see 20 bucks in a season. On my property in the southern zone I might have seen that many in a week before the poaching got bad and now Im lucky to see 5 in a season so it all depends on location and hunting pressure in an area. 20 buck in a season is low for some places and impossible for others.
  3. Reorted several times for a few years but gave up. I know that I was not the only one reporting too so it's not like I was the lone voice. Fact I reported poaching in the dacks too but met with the same result. The poaching along route 8 is blatant and DEC knows that it is going on.
  4. I did and so did several other people that I know of. Nothing is done.
  5. I don't know about those areas but I can say with much certainty that the antler restrictions would do little in the area that I hunt when I hunt the southern zone. Shooting starts in Spetember and they take as many as they can get buck or doe or fawn for that matter and there are no doe tags in this area so antler restrictions would not help unless or until the poaching is curtailed. I ilke the idea of letting buck mature and I pass on younger buck myself but the antler restrictions will only favour the poachers in this area. Poaching is out of control and unless ya live in the woods you really have no idea of how bad it is. Anybody hunting legally is at a severe disadvantage and getting the left overs from the preseason poaching. In this area at least stopping the poaching would do more than antler restrictions.
  6. When I was a boy I started out going deer hunting with my father and uncles at around 5 or 6 years old. They would sit and I would track deer all day. They were kind of a bunch of ridge runners and by the the time I was 8 or 9 I was seeing more deer than them so they gave me a gun to get meat. They were a "if its brown its down" crew and I fell in with them for a while but later I changed my thinking to being a buck hunter although I will on occassion fill a doe tag for meat. Later when I was teaching my own son to hunt I taught him my way and took him out on scouting trips and along on hunts before he could carry his own bow or rifle (I made him wait till a legal age). I taught him all I knew about reading sign, tracking, stalking, moving unnoticed through the woods and finding deer. When he could finaly shoot his own deer I took him with me and put him on deer and found as much fun in sneaking up on deer with him as I did with doing it myself even though the shot was his. I don't think I would have liked a special youth hunt when I was a kid and my son wouldn't have either because I would have felt that it was not on equal ground with the grown ups. I took pride in the fact that I was a better hunter than the rest of the crew when I was a boy and if there was special youth hunts it would have been cheating and would have robbed me of my pride at being the best. Plus later it was more fun taking my son out in the season rather than at some special youth hunt time. He was part of the hunt during the season.

  8. Scouts motto - be prepared. Empty the mag and then get stuck in the woods over night or maybe even a few days and I'd want enough ammo for any emegency. Or wound an animal when you empty the mag and then what?
  9. Ah so you agree that minimum wage does NOT work so you would go back to the government for salary caps too? If minimum wage were abolished then companies would have to pay a wage necissary to attract workers. The people would react by refusing to work where wages were to low to attract them. If that happens the government would probably have to import workers from some third world country if they want wages to go too low. Wait.....they are importing workers from a third world country.......no wonder the unions need to go. Incidentally if our wonderful government would only tax imports at a rate that made sweat shops in other countries not profitable then the factories would stay here.

  12. I have a leather ammo pouch that holds five rouds on my pack and inside the pack is a full box of twenty in a plastic bag.
  13. Wait........ didn't you say it's nobody's buisness what you or anyone else makes? We must Be careful that we don't fall into the same type of political trap with salaries for gov workers. The polticians only complain about certain pay while raising the pay of others.
  14. Illegal activity should be prosecuted but I don't think all ceo's should be punished for the actions of a few. Do you?
  15. I have to agree with that poster who stated that the anger about others makeing more money is driven by the government/media complex. They like to divide people and pointing the finger at people who have more than we do and calling it wrong is an easy way to gin up trouble. Keep and mind thought that there are other people who make less than you do and so they will have them poitning their finger at you and demanding that your pay is cut too.

  19. I never complain about another man making more money than me. It means there is oppertunity for me to rise higher. If I take everybody else down to my level there is no up for me to aspire to. The higher up the other guy is the higher up me or mine can go. Thats the difference between a bad country and a great one. A bad one wants to bring everyone DOWN to the same level and a great one wants oppertunity for all to rise UP.
  20. The whole reason that Obama care is NOT constitutional is because it taxes for doing nothing. With every other tax you must first do something, buy something first and then get taxed, now we get taxed if we don't buy something. It is a whole new broad expanse of power for congress and certainly not minimizing their power. And congress didn't need anything to be called a tax to repeal Obama care all they had to do was repeal it. Calling it a tax does not change or improve congresses ability to repeal Obama care. It is Uncconstitutional because it does not regulate commerce it compells it. Never before has congress had the ability to compell commerce. What conservatives? The Republicans aren't conservative they just talk like it. Bush expanded government exponentially, is that conservatism? Look Obama care will not be repealed no matter what party is in the majority and no matter who the president is. I know you all are hopeful but it isn't going to happen the only shot we had was the supreme court because Obama care really is uncostatutional, but instead of protecting us they went ahead and granted huge powers to government. They ruled not on law but instead on politics. The court is lost to us and there is no balance of power. In fact all of government can now grant themselves new power whenever they choose because the constitution can no longer limit their powers because the court ignores it. And government has been expanding their power and will continue to do so only now that expansion will speed up. The republicans will now start making excuses so you all will be primed up for when they don't repeal Obama care. "We tried to but we couldn't," "We wanted to repeal it but nobody has come up with an alternative yet" "Those darn democrts stopped us from repealing it, it's their fault for starting it in the first place" They are all chomping at the bit with the new found power that your buddy Roberts just handed them and they are too busy thinking up new ways to use it to be worried about getting rid of Romney, oh crap I mean, Obama care. Get it? The same guy who's saying he'll repeal it is the same guy that came up with the plan before Obama did. Please.......forget what the government/media complex says and instead watch what they do. And by the way I don't think the electorate has as much say in the outcome of these elections as you do. Then again the Government/media complex manages to keep them split about 50-50 with their propaghanda too. No one hopes more than I that I am wrong and the republicans are on our side and willing to repeal Obama care and fight for we the people. I don't beleive it for a second though. Their boy Roberts (republican appointee) tipped their hand. He ruled by politics and you should pay attention to what he did because the favour he actually did for you was to show you exactly what the eventual outcome of Obama care is. Obama care is here to stay. It will NOT be repealed without force. Can't wait to see all of the NEW taxes they will come up with now to control our behavior. But I don't wish to butt heads with ya. It's okay if you believe the Republicans are conservative and I'm even hopefull that you are right. IN reality though I an afraid that you are not because if I am right our government is lost to us and bent on destroying our way of life. Time will tell which of us is right and while I hope it is you I am afraid you are wrong. The question is what shall you do if I am right? I know you won't be able to answer that unless and until Obama care is not repealed. But maybe you might want to prepare yourself for that outcome too.
  21. Well then time will tell what is what. If obama care is repealed I will have been wrong. If it isn't then maybe I wasn't wrong.
  22. Did anybody ever think that when the government takes yer money it isn't a tax? The governments track record for removing taxes hasn't really met my expectations so far and I have no reason to believe that they have any intentions on removing this one either; and even if some actually do have those intentions that they will be able to do so. Not that I really believe that either party has intentions of doing anyhting other than making noise and making sure the tax stands.
