The government is abusing the system by allowing these abuses to take place. Do you believe that we know how badly the system is abused but the government does not? How much better care would those special needs children recieve if the government didn't waste our money? Surely if you try hard enough you will find individual cases that require our government to act on our behalf to assist our fellow citizens in time of need but that is no excuse for continual support in other cases. Or with entitlments in general. And incidentally I wasn't born old and was once young with a family and even had times when I had no health insurance. Never looked to anyone else to do my duty for me though.

Ha Let me guess your gonna sight some studies that say deer can't see blaze orange? Believe me grow if I was more invisible to deer in blaze than I am to them in camo I would be wearing it and so would all of the other bow hunters who are currently wearing camo instead of BO. So go blow your smoke someplace else on that subject all one needs to do is hunt in blaze and camo alternatly to know what is what and it won't take long to figure it out either.

Indefensible?????? Really??? Maybe indefensible for stand hunters, or sitters but certainly not indefensible for trackers, stalkers, still hunters or bow hunters. Hunting in these fashions requires a hunter to try and go unnoticed by game and blaze orange has the opposite affect from that desired by those who hunt in these ways.

Are you really trying to use people struck by natural disaster to somehow shame me into conceeding that it's okay for the government to FORCE me to pay for the health insurance of those who have more money than I, those who refuse to work or help themselves, Those who are not only not US citizens but who have also entered the country illegally to take jobs from our fellow Americans? Should it shame me into believing that my money is better spent on alchohol, cigs, and illegal drugs by those who are able but unwilling to work? Should I be shamed into believing that personal liberty is not a noble cause? Should I be shamed into believing that I should not hold liberty above all else? I will not!!!! Liberty is the single most important right we have as people. A free people does not need a government to provide for them; free people will provide for themselves. The American people have always risen to the occasion and helped those in need. Get the word out that fellow Americans are in trouble and the people respond and do so overwhelmingly. The ability of the American people to give to those in need is only tempered by the ruinous actions of a tyrannical government. A government that has taken a once great republic and reduced it to something less. With each oppresive act of the government we loose more, not gain. No country can remain great while destroying the individual liberty of its people. Your government sir is destroying your liberty and it has tricked you into beleiving that it is for a good cause. NO CAUSE IS GREATER THAN LIBERTY!!!! Your children, grandchildren and beyond are not born free here in this country they are born into obligation to a government that spends out of control and beyond our means often in the name of doing good for others. I am a yes vote but I have to qualify that by saying that I am only in favour of it IF DEC gets agressive with the poaching. If not then whats the point?

I've provided for myself and as such am not dependant on others to provide those things for me. I've noted how many choose to buy big expensive homes or toys instead of health insurance and now get to have ME pay for their health insurance because they refused to attend their basic needs first. Agree with that do ya? Think it's okay for folks to spend their money irresponicibly and have somebody else take up their slack because they were not responcible? I reckon if I was irresponcible enough to not provide coverage for myself I'd gladly sell my house to stay alive and not snivel about it like a child needing to be taken care of and spend the rest of my days alive in an apartment instead of stealing from the other guy.

Easy grow now you'l be having calls for mandatory whistles while hunting and new studies where the guy that was shot didn't have a whistle and so it's his fault he was shot.

I've shot many deer with the 30-30 meat. Eventually you'll loose one shot with it and then another and MAYBE at some point you will want a bigger cal. Meanwhile though I understand your pride in your rifle; I once felt the same way about my 30-30.

BO saves lives in some instances according to the criteria of the report. However the report looks at the issue from only one perspective and as such one can make any report conform to their wishes if they choose to look at the issue from only one perspective. For example the hunter who shot his buddy that was doing a drive for him shot because he saw movemnet. I wonder if he shot at movement because he expected to see blaze orange on anything but a deer because he himself was wearing blaze? We don't know because the report only looks at the incident from one perspective what the injured party was wearing and not what the shooter was wearing and how THAT might contribute as well. Really? you got that its a macho thing out of my post? I thought I had exempted the good hunters who also wear blaze from those tenderfoots who also wear blaze. The US is the only country in the world where the poor can afford to be obese, smoke cigs, drink alchol and do drugs all on soembody elses money. Please being poor does pay here and now yu even get the same health care as anyone, except politicians, who work. Meanwhile if you work you will pay more now than ever for Obama care so those who don't work, or who actually make more money than you but choose to not buy their own med insurance, can live off of your dime. SS give me money back and close the program I'd be happy with that. Medicare. Keep it and stop taking my money. I'm complaining but I'm complaining because the government is TAKING my money and freedom. I don't need or want them to take care of me, I'm a grown man and can stand on ny own two feet without the government robbing from somebody else to give it to me. The government isn't helping anyone they are only controlling them. Unemployment. Secure the boarders to keep the third world cheap labor out. Tax imports at a level so that imports would be competitive to US labor rates and then lets talk about unemployment. There is a difference between contributing for the good of all and enslaving a poulation and wasteing their wealth. We have long ago gone far beyond contributing for the good of all. When I said the city I meant any city not NY city. If ya like stats check them and you will find that you are less likely to get shot while hunting than you are walking around ANY upstate city area.

I did not see in your text what percentage of the SHOOTERS were wearing blaze orange. That is to say of those who shot someone what percentage were wearing blaze orange? I ask this becuse those studies look at blaze orange from only one perspective. Another perspective might be does blaze give the shooter a false sense of security to shoot if he does not see blaze? I know a guy who shot someone while hunting. Happened many years ago and he shot at sound. He heard movement and shot instead of identifying his target. He was wearing blaze when he shot and I've often wondered if he shot because he felt safe in doing so because he didn't see blaze; the guy he shot was wearing red/black checkers. Also see my other post about other people who live in the woods who aren't hunting and don't wear blaze. My personal way of dealing with other hunters of unknown sensablity is to avoid them whenever possible and if I can't avoid them I whistle at them and wave at them to be sure they know what I am before I proceed. Don't mean any disrespect to any of you fine hunters who wear blaze but in our experiance the worst, senseless ,weekend only, tenderfoots who only venture into the woods for a few hours, if that, each year are ussually wearing blaze. Folks that spend a couple of weeks, TOPS, in the woods in a year are most likely to be wearing blaze and I've found that the best way to handle those tenderfoots is to whistle at them and wave and whistle until they wave back. Otherwise who knows what they might do; they are in an alien environment intent on being a hero and shooting something and who knows what tricks their minds might play on them. Im sorry to say, and again no disrespect to you fine hunters who wear it, but, If we see guys in blaze outfits we go the other direction. Its rare to see blaze even just a mile from any road anyhow so it's not hard to stay away from them.

When I hunt the southern zone I wear camo and so does most of the people I know. My house is on a single lane dirt road in the middle of the woods. Newbie hunters unfamiliar with the area won't know the road is there until they nearly step on it. None of the kids or people who live in the area wear blaze orange while outside either in the road or in the woods. Kids play in the woods here during hunting season and don't wear blaze. The area is hunted heavily and yet everyone feels safe. Every year in this area people die in thier homes from one thing or another and yet no one gets killed while hunting. Sure it will happen sooner or later its just the law of probabilities but it's clearly much safer hunting than it is in ones own home.

You are more likely to get shot minding your own buisness doing anything in the city than you are getting shot while hunting.

I would hunt doe but I'd spend a lot less time hunting here and then head out of state to hunt buck. Probably end up leaving the state if it were a perminant thing.
