Wow! I really did a poor job of expressing myself. I am as anti-party as they come. So I also might have something else wrong because I had always thought that the kids education came from the teachers. That is to say, the teachers do the actual educating and so to say that only 15% of the budget goes to actual education is confusing to me. If the education doesn't come from the teachers what is this other 15% that you speak of that does the actual educateing? Actually my take on Walker winning is because the government/media complex is still in control of the people. Ha, hows that for anti party? Personal attacks mearly point out the weaknes in the attackers perspective. That is to say, if ones perspective is valid they need not resort to such things. Sabe? -
Ain't no state land in Brunswick. Have to go to Grafton or Tibbits forest for that.

That would be nice but I'm of the oppinion that our government in its current form is not capable of balancing the books. No, instead I'm thinking that the money taken from the workers will be spent in another area. -

I should only like to point out that only about half of those eligible to vote actually do so; and most importantly; those who do vote can only choose between those two candidates that the two parties allow them to vote on. -

I'll answer. They were allowed becuse this used to be a free country. They were needed because workers were being mistreated by the politicians just as the private sector workers were being mistreated by thier bosses when they were ALLOWED to form unions for their protection. -

Your anger is misdirected. Unions and the everyday people who are members of them do not do the hiring or the firing. Do you believe that the unions are in charge and it is the politicians who are the victims of the unions? Should we believe that the unions FORCED the politicians to hire large numbers of people? Forced the politicians to pay more and more? Should we believe that the poor politicians who are the ones in charge are only innocent victims in this whole thing? Don't you think it's just a little bit funny that the government cries fowl against the unions (made up of everyday working people) and at the same time increases spending in other areas? Don't ya think its funny that eveyday people in the unions are a waste of money but political patronage no show jobs are not? Don't ya find it a little odd that everyday people who work for 25 or 30 years are thieves for getting a pension but politicians who serve for one term and get paid for life are heros? There are a lot of governement employees. Too many; government has gotten too large. The unions didn't make it so though. Teachers are a small percentage of government employees. Teachers for the most part are good people; they are our friends and neighbors and most people, maybe including you, thought of them in that way until the government/media complex started it's campaign against them. Maybe you might recall a time before the government/media campaign against teachers when you had a different feeling for them? They are stil the same people they were before. The same is true for the police, firemen, custodians, engineers, road crews, office workers, grounds keepers, sewer workers, garbage men, and all of the rest of the union workers that the government media complex is guiding your anger towards. As the public sector pay goes down those people will seek work in the private sector because the pay will be better. It already is now in most cases but the benefits in the public sector swayed many to work there. As the demand for private sector jobs increases the pay will decrease accordingly. As far as BS goes I'm concerned that if you haven't heard something from one media outlet or another you will automatically consider it as BS. Instead I'd ask that you consider all perspectives instead of closing your mind to anything but one or two possibilites that you may hear from the news. In the end ALL perspectives are only partial perspectives and in the case of the media those perspectives, I'm sad to say, are directed for a purpose. -
I agree ford but also 300 yards is too far for most hunters.

The lever action rifle will serve you well and was my choice for many years prior to my going to a single shot rifle. When I was in your shoes I chose the lever gun and loved it and always used it as my go to gun even though I own many bolt action rifles. The 30-30 though, in my experiance, is a bit under powered and you would do well to get your lever gun in 35 rem. rather than the 30-30.

Actually I used to be in a public union and they took bigger cuts than that. Unfortunantly the government/media complex never let the facts get in the way of their rhetoric and so people believe what they do. And one more fact that the government/media complex doesn't speak of is that the public unions cannot strike and so they only ever get what the politicians agree to pay. -

Incidentally the politicians determine the size of government not the unions. If there are too many working for the government than you have only the politicians to blame. -

As the public unions go so too will go the private sector. As pay and benefits are cut for public unions so too will they be cut for the private sector. Those of you who have fallen for the propaghanda from the politicians might note that they are not getting their pay or benefits cut only working people are. Those of you in the private sector who approve of the politicians actions against the unions should pay close attention because you are soon to follow. -
And poachers still shoot deer with 22's. Dead certainly is dead the only difference is how much time and distance there is between where the animal was shot and where it died. Put a 45 cal rifle through a deers boiler works and it's going down in a hurry; put a 22 in the same spot and it's likely to die someplace else later.

I don't know I only have flextech stocks. I have a bad shoulder and hunt witha 444 so I went with the flextech stock to help with recoil, it works. -
What Does Being A Hunter Mean To You?
adirondackbushwhack replied to Deerthug's topic in General Hunting
All of the usual stuff plus the real kick for me is matching my witts and skills against those of the buck I am hunting. To figure him out and then sneak in or up on him undetected by stalking and tracking for me is the real thrill of the hunt. -

Commoon sense and government = oxymoron -
A Weather shield rifle will corrode it just doesn't corrode as easily. I had a Triumph with weather shiled but gave it to my son. I guess I'm tough on my rifles too. I generally camp (tent now that I'm old and hanicapped) for at least a couple of weeks in the hunting season and have found that wiping the rifle down each time I return to camp with an oily rag or rem oil wipes really preserves a rifle. The only problem I ever had with wood was it swelling in the rain or wet snow.

Roselyn the criminal fromTC basically lied just like a real pro as if she was born to it. Said she never said they would refund my money or replace the barrel. I reminded her that I was actually in the conversation and so I know what the deal was but she stuck to her guns at which point I called a spade a spade. She actually tried to say that I sent the barrel back to them so they could dispose of it!!! Total dishonesty and more like a street hoodlum than a proper person. There is no working with trash like that I have no choice but to file suit. I'll lose money but in the end somebody has to go after criminals like that or they run over everybody.
-
I believe you have identified the problem. Taking the easy way out instead of hunting. It is easier to bait than it is to learn to hunt and then actually do it.
-
Because it would not then be what I had ordered or had in mind when I bought it. Also even though they won't refund my money they did offer to replace the custom barrel with a less expensive production barrel of a different cal. which I excepted and then I ordered a stainless 444 barrel from someplace else. Now they are going back on the replacement barrel offer. I don't expect I'd spend that kind of money on a rifle and then take pot luck and take whatever they give me. I expect to get what I ordered and not have to spend more money fixing faults.
-
The barrel rusted the second time while hunting while the replacement frame did not. It was odd. First time both barrel and frame rusted. Frame was replaced and barrel refinished and the second time only the barrel rusted so it leads me to believe that something had happened to that original frame and barrel.

Funny how the meaning of the word "wild" is ignored when applied to places run for profit.
