Wish he had his ducks in a row before starting this thread... The suspense is killing me...LOL! -
At least finding him brings the story to closure for you and you're not left wondering what happened to him next Fall - - or worse, spending time hunting his old haunts to no avail. Sometimes we hunters win and sometimes nature wins, that's what makes hunting thrilling. Thanks for sharing the story and all the photos and I hope one of his healthy offspring shows up on your cam soon and in your crosshairs next Fall!

25 plus guns for sale!!
clayshooter25 replied to bisceglia's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
To be clear however, you can sell face to face to a NYS resident if you both go to an FFL to conduct the transaction (so the background check can be made before transfer of the firearm). Selling to anyone from out of state requires that you ship the gun to the FFL of their choosing in their state. -

I'm sure you saw them, but I sent you 2 pm's yesterday - just want to ensure I'm on the list of those you plan to respond to. -
For Sale: PaintShop Photo Pro X3 I got a new computer with Windows 8 which cannot run this photo editing program, so I want to sell it to someone who can make use of it. This is excellent software for either making some really detailed edits to your photos or for minor edits – Like removing red-eye or blemishes. Will work with Windows 7. Price is $30 shipped to your US address only.

Hi Virgil... I cook all of my game birds without skin, but I make them cacciatore, which is Italian for hunter's style. Sauté onions and garlic in olive oil, add chopped tomato (I like pomi), add capers, red wine, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, a little red pepper. All of this is in a large skillet that you can cover. Add the birds and cook covered for about 3 hours on a low setting with liquid covering the meat. Add wine if you need to add back more liquid. The meat will literally fall apart with a fork. Make some basmati rice and you're all set. Hopefully you will still have that bottle of wine to finish off with dinner too! Let me know if you try the recipe. Best of luck!!! Bon appetit

Trajectory should factor into your decision. At what distance do you plan on shooting her? Only kidding... I'd go with a 243 unless there is a chance you could encounter a bear.

Anyone know what the Dick's in Middletown has in stock? FYI: The closest store to my home is in Danbury CT, but they will NOT sell to a NYS resident, as they require a CT "ID". I'm not sure if that is store specific or part of CT law. -
Happy New Year Everyone????????????

How about $25 plus shipping per? -
Did some duck hunting yesterday with my youngest son. Mallards, Black Duck and Geese were everywhere! Here's a photo of Anthony with his first ever duck. It was the only duck to set into the decoys. All other shots were at quite a distance. He will be eating Duck Cacciatore with wild rice for lunch today. What a great moment... I am proud to have passed on the love of hunting to both my sons!

I know your frustration Belo... On Thanksgiving I went out back to discard the turkey carcass and kicked up a 6 pointer.... After seeing nothing all week ????
-
Temp is comfortable in Putnam County... My guess low 30s with a slight breeze. Just need some activity now.
-
Sleet has turned to rain as they predicted. Gonna hang in simply because I am still dry and there is less than an hour of legal light but I am NOT feeling lucky.
-
Sleeting now... Just saw a hunter far off to my right. Maybe he will move something. Since I am staying dry in my blind I will sit a while longer.
-
Flurries again but a change in wind direction... Out of west this morning but now blowing from the east... C'mon Bambi where are you? If you show up now I will take you for a ride in... I mean on my car.
-
On and off flurries in Putnam County all morning. Spooked a deer on the way in in the dark but the woods have been quiet ever since. Not as cold as yesterday when it was 15 degrees but much quieter today. No squirrels or birds... Just my teeth chattering ????

Keep in mind that you may NOT use a centerfire rifle so long as there is a deer season in progress (including bow, muzzleloader and gun season). Shotgun with "shot" is ok. Check this out on the DEC website to ensure I have it exactly correct, but I am pretty sure it's as I stated. And like Biz said, leave a note in your car window to avoid unneccessary trouble, although you can't guarantee that someone isn't going to call the police if they hear a shot at night. Best of luck and let us know what you get! -
Wow... Great way to start the season- - nice Buck!
