  1. Sweet Old Bill, I wave the flag everyday.
  2. To those of you who have stated only handicap/physically disabled should be allowed to use crossbows with a certification. Why? Why make it more challenging for a person who is already challenged to go hunting? Everyone able can just walk in to a sporting goods store and get a license to hunt. It is a discrimination to force someone to go through a proccess to do what anyone else can just do. Making crossbow legal would just give them the same convienience. Why are crossbows so evil in the minds of some bow hunters. Is there really an evil element to the crossbow? Or are these bow hunters just elitists who do not like sharing the woods and resources of the state. This is a country built on the freedom of choice. To limit a choice is unamerican as it gets. If you do not wish to share the woods with others move to a communist or facist coutry. I am an American, a Veteran and a Citizen of the United States of America. I fought for freedom and I vote for freedom. Let New Yorkers have the freedom to hunt with crossbows.
  3. The good news is the DEC is considering allowing deer hunting in Nassau County. It is in the 5 year plan paragraph ECL 11-0907(5).
  4. I have had goo luck with the NAP Quicktune 360 rest. It is like the WB but uses only 3 points of contact.
  5. More deer will survive and not be killed by freezing or starving due to snow covering the food.
  6. Ants, Be a man. Just tell the wife your the bread winner and you can do what you please. Can you tell I am not married.
  7. # 3 increase of tresspass . ! The real cause of this will be housing developements. As more land is taken for devlopement the less hunting areas there will be. If I was a bow hunter living up state I would oppose all developements. The nolvelty of crossbows will settle down but new houses are forever.
  8. Sweet Old Bill you bring up an interesting point about the use of pop up blinds. Thinking about all the hunting shows I have seen, I can not recall seeing anyone use a crossbow out of a tree.
  9. We should put up our own billboard or 2. NO MORE MEXICANS! NO MORE DRUGS! Not trying to sound racist. I just like shoving it back in their faces.
  10. A stock, a triger and a sighting system does not define a firearm. The term "Fire" is the key here. An implement is defined by it's functional componants. A cross bow does not produce any type of fire nor does it use expanding gas of any type. It does however use potential energy stored in it's limbs. Just like a normal bow. Also, like a bow the crossbow utilizes a string to push apon the projectile sending it into flight. Look up crossbow in the dictioary or wikipedia and the definition will referance "bow and arrow", not gun. Argue that point.
  11. I was an armorer for a SEAL team in Hawaii and firing a gun under water is viable. The range when fired under water is only a few yards. Mind you in close combat this is still leathal. The preferred way to shoot under water by SEALs is out ofthe water. While remaining submerged and aiming at a target on the peir. The pistol being submerged has a natural suppresor from the water.
  12. I hunt on Long Island wich is an archery only area. As it stands I could not use a crossbow unlees I travel upstate. I am against making anyone that has a physical condition that prevents them from drawing a bow to jump through hoops just to hunt. Some day you may not be able to draw a bow. Will your oppinion suddenly change then. I also do not see crossbows being that popular that everyone will go out and by one. I feel the vertical bow is the more versitile of the two and will still dominate in the woods.
  13. You might try different bullet weights as well.
  14. I think having a crossbow section would be cool. There is a lot to learn, like minimun poundage for hunting and the stae regs ect. I would like to see crossbows allowed during the regular archery season as well. I do not think there will be a thousand new hunters invading the woods like people think.
  15. Aw! Pass me the chili, beer and pickled eggs. I'm gonna make a stink about this.
  16. Microstamping works by having the firearm's serial number on the firing pin in extremly tiny numbers. A microscope will be needed to read the stamp on the primers of the shell casings. It has already been determined the stamping fails to imprint a ledgable mark a large pecentage of times. Each firearm would be sold with a sample casing that would be logged by the police in some form. The plan was shot down the first time due to the cost of tracking every firearm sold with this microstamping. It is my opinion that any new firearm law will cost the tax payers to much to be effective. I am against any new gun law a think the ones we have are to much. The only way to stop crime is to ensure everyone has a good paying job.
  17. I am all in. Shoot And eat. Sounds good, I look foward to meeting you all. 2XL
  18. The stand you are thinking about is the Millenium. This stand has a chair with a back. No leaning against the tree.
  19. Savage is a solid rifle no matter wich model you choose. The finish should not be a problem as it is a satin finish and not shiny. The 308 is one of the best cartridges out there and widely available. You should be very happy with that rifle.
  20. Hunterman My brother has the Browning Model 71 and had stopped shooting it because of the cost. We have recently began to reload to save money on ammo Also to be able to shoot the rifles that are in calibers that are difficult to find or to expensive. it was not difficult to learn and there are plenty of forums and web sites to help. You can also get some reloading books and read up on it before hand . We kept it simple by getting a Lee single stage press from Cabelas. Definately look into the reloading side of this sport it will help to keep that fine rifle hunting.
  21. Congradulations! I am hoping to get mine soon too.
