  5. I run 95gr hornady out of a 6mm (.244) and it does great. Definitely recommend staying off the shoulder though. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  6. Actually not the first time I've heard that ! Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  7. Kids.... more like young adults by the time they get to hit the woods in NY. PA has impressed me in more ways than 1 with some seriously different regs with such great opportunities for kids that show interest in hunting and the outdoors. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  8. We also shared camp with some lucky youth hunters. These kids know how to stack em up ! Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  9. Maybe for the forum, but for me it's the best story I've had YET I'd gladly trade any buck on the wall for that doe.
  10. I don't even know where to start. I can't thank our hosts enough. Gracious enough to allow us a bed, meals and stands to sit in, but more importantly a deer camp experiance, commrodery and the opportunity to make memories that will be heard for generations. Between my son, my father and myself there isn't a way to show the magnitude of thankfulness in words or actions. Last year we were given the opportunity to take my 7 yr old son to PA to chase his first whitetail. It was very important to me that we all get to share deer hunting together as tomorrow is never promised and my father is having trouble getting in and out of the woods these days. I was willing to try anything to increase the odds of us all together for Kaidens first deer. Well, we did dark to darks, we moved setups and we tried bow and rifle season but weren't able to score. My son never showed an ounce of a "give up" attitude, if anything he was more motivated to get back after each trip. Well, all his patience and efforts earned him a real gift on this trip. We arrived to camp shortly after 4pm Friday. We had already had a plan to hunt "the tower" with the rifle in search of a doe, then spend Saturday in a stand back in the timber with the xbow in search of a buck. We pulled in the driveway and were able to see a group of deer feeding directly under the tower. We grabbed our gear and headed up to the tower in the ranger, bumping the deer back into the thickets. We setup, took our first 22' PA season selfie and had 2 small doe enter the field. I had Kaiden practice getting on them in the scope of his great grandfathers 6mm rem 700. He switch between the 2, slowly moving and taking his time getting the crosshairs "right behind the shoulder". Then, she stepped out. A nice mature doe. She fed in the shade for what seemed like forever while we all stood there watching. Finally, out of nowhere whe decided to start walking with a purpose right out into the field. I saw my son having a head time stating on here as she was moving fairly fast, so I told him to get on her and tell me when. He hunkered down, got focused and gave me the word. A little MEEHHHP, she stopped, he took his time and squeezed one off. I heard the thump that I've hear many times before and knew she was dead. We watched her bound a few times and pile up in the field. The celebration that followed is something I know I will never forget. To be honest its hard to even write this without going right back to that feeling. 3 generations sharing the moment, using my grandfathers rifle, all together in the tower. Once we were able to gather ourselves we went down to put our hands on her. My son had to track it even know we saw her go down. Of course, he found first blood and led us right to her. Again, another celebration. We were able to spend some time standing over her, reliving the moment and listening to my son tell his version of story. Again, I can't thank our hosts enough for not only allowing us the opportunity but for sharing in our excitement. I was able to get the shot on video, and I'll try and get it uploaded to YouTube asap. Here's some pics of Kaidens first deer, a nice mature doe with a red mohawk down her back and a cool double throat patch. One last time, THANK YOU to our hosts. We are forever in your debt as there will be no way for us to repay you for the opportunity. Sorry for wasting a few cell cam pics especially since I have an interesting little follower out there.... you know us NY guys.... Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  11. Lol. You are something..... chefs lucky to have you Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  12. I'm not saying that, the stats are. Dig around, you will see, you may also learn something about a deers antler growth. I would also encourage you to do 2 things, plant food that promotes antler growth and shoot some does as they are the ones carrying these bad genetics you speak of. You are so stuck on this age thing and it's obvious why. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  13. It's crazy to think that 89% of the wild north American whitetails average about the same amount inches grown per year EXCEPT where some of our very own members hunt. Seriously, consider how crazy that is !! Even @Four Season Whitetail's will agree !!! I guess you guys are lucky in the sense it's alot cheaper to mount a jawbone with a certificate from deerage than doing a shoulder mount. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  14. Was that the intended shot placement ? If so I hope all those hunters you mentor haven't been instructed to take a spine shot.... Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  15. Wonderful to be back out here. Seeing some deer, patiently waiting..... Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk

No. I was told they aren't that great, so we decided to not go through all that. We did keep a Spanish mak though. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk

If they were anything like the rollers we ran over it would have been nbd. We found a few Rouge 15'rs but they had 20-30 second intervals. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk

Quite possible. I do believe that the overnighters fish through the night though. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk

I'm not sure which side the arguement lays, but every other species we chased was the opposite. The full moon had them frisky. Apparently when everything else is eating the bluefin are not. Talked to 1 boat that did a Friday to Monday trip in the canyons. Had one miss and that was it. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  21. Salty! Another epic trip in the books. Pounded on stripers, blues, and finally got the time to find the albies. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk

@Chef I asked every tuna boat I saw if they got into em and from plymouth Bay port to Falmoth harbor nobody got one. Maybe it's a good thing you got rescheduled. The full moon supposedly shuts down the tuna bite. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
