I was reverting to specs. The specs on a 45hp Kubota to a 35hp kioti showed a 1000# difference in capability favoring the kubota (bucket lift) I also don't follow how those specs are obviously wrong in the real world test that Gman did. I can understand rated hp vs at pto ( like an older Oliver rated at 73 but 62@pto) but specs are specs. Are we talking operating the winch and lifting it with 3pt ? Hopefully bigval has major logging plans or we are wasting our time discussing this ! Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Been there done that. My hope is to get another opportunity at the deer that was behind this tree. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

As long as it doesn't have a belly mower Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Right. And they are only a few hp off at the pto, tested. Meaning, if in fact the Kubota can't lift it, and the kioti can, it's being pushed to it's limits, which Gman said is a bad thing. I think he's stretching to say the least by saying the kioti has that much more pull. Regardless if a pump is 10gpm or 1000gpm, if it's tested to lift 1000# more, it should lift 1000# more, hydro or not. Also, 35hp and 40hp in fact does fall in that category, per Gman since it can accept a belly mower, it's a mower. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Odd. Doing a quick search on tractordata.com, your tractor is almost 6hp less than the Kubota TESTED. So what your telling me is that a lower hp tractor out performed a higher hp tractor on a 3pt implement ??? They also rate the Kubota over 1000# TESTED more lift on the bucket. Either way, your confusing me. As you tell bigval that he shouldnt get a "subcompact" cause you will push it to it's limits, yet your lifting 38" round logs with a "subcompact"....? Not even 1/3 of 30k, fyi. And will lift over a ton in the bucket without pushing it's limits. Brush hogs like a dream even when into saplings. The more scenarios you bring up, the better you make an old Kubota hat sound. Maybe you need to drive something other than a Cub cadet so you can open your eyes to what's ACTUALLY out there. Have you ever driven and used a 2002 Kubota, 40hp HST ? Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

BigVal said he wanted a loader.... I can tell you my loader has come in handy 29864766289374477437 times. Let pull up an example or two (keep in mind, this is the same rig I mow my lawn with, skid logs, food plots, plow 2700' driveway, grade driveway, haunted hay ride, move trailers around, etc etc ) GTK !! And for what it's worth, your petty stabs at the glorified lawn mowers are making me laugh and not upsetting me, if that's what your shooting for. I know what your tractors are capable of. You have no idea what my lawn mower is capable of. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

"Older", as in "not brand new with payments" as I read in the original post. BigVal also mentioned a loader, so that's where I'm basing my statements. Plenty of "newer" hydros out there from early 90's on. So again to your post that said hydro is best for loader work, at least that person and I agree, along with millions of other "homeowners". That is correct. Hst superior for loader work and newer hydros reliable. Thanks for posting ! Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

I actually looked into 2 things. A new clutch for my jubilee was gonna cost me about 250 in parts. A new hydro pump for my Kubota is 400. Most likely, if ever, either of those would have to be replaced once, and my opinion still stands that a hydro would be a fantastic trans for a general use rig and a cost difference of 150$ is peanuts in comparison to the benefits of the hydro. Point was for bigVal. Most older and cheaper gears will be farm beat and probability of repairs is high. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Proving another valid point that old tractors gear or hydro, can break and cost money to repair. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Another fantastic show of how skidding up a hill absolutely beats on a geared tractor. With a hydro, you can fine tune power and speed so you can use your front end weight and juuuuuust keep those front tires off the ground vs popping the clutch and slamming the tractor up and down. I know this because I have done it many, many times. It's actually pretty fun to be able to feather the go pedal and keep moving up the hill without worry of flipping. FYI. Oliver 1800 is rated 62hp at the drawbar..... You say it's 80hp. That means there's 25% power loss somewhere. Is it a hydro ??? Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

My 40hp can accept a mid mount mower, therefore it's classified as a mower, or so I hear. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Speaking of nutless dogs. This is our annual haunted hayride pic. 26 people including kids, on a double axle heavy duty trailer, through the mud, up and down a couple steep inclines and all around the property.... Never a grunt from my lawn mower. If estimate I'm pulling about 4000# Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Just watched another lawn mower video. 23hp Kubota. Rated to lift 509#. Lifted 680# amazing little machines ! Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Which for the purpose of this thread (pi$$ match) would be considered a lawn mower and an old non reliable hydro machine. I'd bet that tractor is still running strong and pulling loads up and down hills. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

A perfect example of the need for a 4x4 for woods work. Heavy snow and ground thawed on a path I had taken the day before, but thankfully my neighbor with his 25hp sub compact was able to pull me out. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

He never mentioned price range. I wanted to give my experiences of how many tractors I went through before I was happy. I started with a jubilee. It ran great, but that was about it. Couldn't plow the driveway, couldn't skid logs, and was a complete waste of time. When I had to get the neighbor with his tractor to come pull me out (half the HP, but hydro and 4x4) it was the last straw. 4x4 shuttle, which was a tricky beast to finesse with loader work turned to a gear tractor, which did the tasks just no where near as efficient as my hydro. If I could give advise to any "estate owner" it would be to go big or go home and relate it to all my experiences in hopes I help him out with his purchase instead of confusing things into a pi$$ing match about FARM tractors, pulling rigs, Nascar and spaceships Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Agree totally. Gearing. Like how a 2hp steamer can pull the sled better than a 1000hp Cummins in a Dodge truck. But, I know a 25hp hydro b series kubota that could pull that cart and also accomplish 10000 other tasks as well. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
