or throwing a football, frisbee or golfing, all are instinctive aiming and ballistics, you throw a football to oyur kid at 30 feet you dont suddenly need a sight to tell you how to reach him now at 60 feet, the more you throw anything, frisbee, golfball, basketball, football, arrow, the mroe it becomes a muscle memory thing and is all intuitive. the only time good instinctive arhcers have trouble i have found is on the bowfishing boats, the deep fish "look" to be a certain distance and your mind doesnt compute the refraction of light which makes the fish look higher in the water, so for those who dont aim, and simply LOOK and release, they miss a lot of fish high unless they are near the surface. for deep fish, anythin more than a foot down, try drawing three under and sight down the arrow and HOLD/ AIM at below the fishes belly. anyway, a bow is a great thing for a kid! good on you!

I dont care about it for hunting but on many lakes and ponds and RIVERS this shuts the whole waterway down for bowfishing because some anti has a camp or in one case a SHED on the shore, now you're looking at a semi circle of that pond taking up three football fields of shoreline that we cant legally shoot a carp along. its not right. 500 foot rules should never be allowed to extend BEYOND the property boundary of the person bitching. like Vermont does with SAFETY ZONES, the original way antis would post their property boundary with safety zone signs, legal zones where no hutning or discharge of any kind can happen within 500 feet, it was QUICKLY realized they were shutting down hunting hundreds of yards BEYOND their own properties, so now its 500 feet of the BUILDING or to their property line, whichever is less. That's how NY should be, you shouldnt be able to effect someone fishing 150 yards out in front of your home or camp or SHED simply because you are against bows and shooting non native invasive fish.

and vice versa, a tall hunter with his knees up in the air around his ears wont be worth a hoot after 20 minutes either. Our ladders are labeled left right hand and height so I can tell immediately where and what stand a certain hunter will be able to use comfortably and for long times, also the 2 man ladders with FULL flooring are often taller seats and are more solid, important for hunters who do not like heights, I would suggest calling some guides and hunters in your area and asking them to try their stands out. Best way to see if it fits is test drive them.

frickin Texans cant shoot to save their butts, thats how. stopped by a friends place and he is one of these types that loves the outdoot tv shows, the one he had on was Killin and Grillin from east texas, these yahoos are using 12 gauges to hunt squirrels, which ahs its place if you are 90, blind and they are running and jumping limb to limb or someone is throwing them out of planes as they buzz by you. not only are they such lousy shots to use shotguns but they are shooting sitting squirrels with them and often it is boom boom boom boom boom boom boom and the squirrel is now on the ground and running. I couldnt take much of it and headed on the way, wiser for the experience and secure in the knowledge that we didnt hold the Alamo for the simple reason the southern boys cant shoot to save their butts.

more handgun kills

these are my hunting handguns, I mainly hunt flintlock but when using a modern gun it will be a handgun, I hunt everything from squirrels to elk with these guns. a 22 semi, like the scoped buckmark is excellent for everything small game. the bearcat is a nice trapline gun, that one i punched out to 22 mag, you can shoot 22 short to 22 mag in it, most 22 mags depending on the firing pin will fire a 22 lr short or shot well enough for occassional use the ruger single six is a good gun to hunt with but revolvers are difficult to shoot well unless the grips git your hands perfectly, experiment with grips rubber and wood til you find the ones that work best for you. the 44 mag is my deer bear moose elk gun, it shoots my handloads into 4" offhand out to 75 yards which is my max range for that round, while everyone "knows" the 44 mag "is the most powerful handgun in the world" (wasnt even true when that movie came out in reality, anyway, it is about half the power of a 30-30 which almost everyone under 50 today regards as a popgun. for all around shooting I recommend a 357 magnum, it has plenty of power with the right bullets to hunt whitetails and all north east game. the recoil is almsot nil, half that of the 44 mag in the same gun configuration, and you can shoot cheap 38 specials in it for plinking, small game etc. the best hunting handgun i ever used was a taurus 6" 357 mag that I scoped with a 2.5power bushnell LER, the package was excellent for deer hunting out to 100 yards and I took hundereds of woodchucks, crows, fox, coyotes and other small game with it. I traded it for something I couldnt live without and regret it ever since. if you are up this way give a yell we can step out the backyard and shoot them all and see what tickles your fancy.

wrap hardware cloth around any trees you want to save from beavers, 3 feet in height from ground up usually makes them move on. this is what we have always done when establishing new trees in beaver areas. those are very clear photos, I've seen some of those pelican built cameras and they are very impressive, too much coin IMO but still nice.

good pics. i didnt realize fisher were not state wide . our problem back home ( franklin county) is we were limited to 6 marten for the season, its a real pain running the fisher line at the 30th trap with 5 marten in the bag and 100 traps left to check that day....you know you're going over on marten that season. fisher sold crazy high the other day at nafa so i expect they will be pounded next year. I always wonder why so many threads on the internet are screaming bloody murder about predators but hardly any one traps??

mostly depends on what breeds of trees you have, if they are truly "wild" that is OLD trees that are of varieties no longer grown they are often tip bearing trees, most heritage strains are, and people who only are familiar with spur bearing apples, like commercial varieties today, they prune it as they see commercial orchards done and then wonder why they dont get apples for two years after they cut all the tips off, lol. I dont fertilize after freeing a tree you can shock it and kill it, but ones that have been freed 3 or 4 years ago get a dusting of 10-10-10 at the drip line this time of year.

where we hunt in the UK it is REQUIRED by law to use supressors, in most places in europe where I've hunted or shot, all shooting ranges or clubs are near residential areas it is also required by law to supress the guns noises. a few places down under too. They are always baffled when they learn that we make no effort to curb noise in the USA, harley soft tails and ported handguns, boom boxes and ghetto blasters, we like ear ringing noise in the USA. lol.
