  1. Here is a link that tells more fo the story, http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=7198 You can join the NRA at a reduced rate through brownells.com, $25.00 instead of $35.00 As stated earlier Barack is responsible for the gun sales to Mexico, he is the Chief Executive and is responsible for the actions of his underlings. The program was STOPPED under Bush when found that guns were escaping surveilance.
  2. Like stated before dress your body warm enough. Then I use a silk sock liner, a wool hunting sock (check BassPro Shops for reviews) and Rocky Boots insulated boots. The trick to the boots is to order them in a size wider than normally worn. This will allow the bulky wool sock in there and let your foot move and breath. I used to make the mistake of wrapping up my feet like a mummy and prying them into tight boots. I also throw a hand warmer heat pack into the toe section of the boots. I haven't found their stick on foot warmer to work to well. One last trick, take 2 aspirin the morning of the hunt. Aspirin is a great blood thinner and your extremities will stay warmer if the blood can get there easier. Don't take aspirin if you are already on a blood thinner of course. I am able to stay out from sunrise to sunset without leaving the woods rown to 20F so far with no problem. My feet are cool by the end of the dat but not numb or frozen.
  3. Check out this site for coyote hunting, www.downwindoutdoors.com Best way seems to get them at long range.
  4. Take a look here http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/8373.html
  5. I got my spot for Rocky Point today. Been hunting for decades upstate but never tried LI even though I live in Nassau county. I was number 912 and got a Friday on the second week. Am really looking forward to it. One question though. Someone said you can shoot either a buck or doe with your big game tag. They said you don't need a doe tag, that you can shoot either. Is this correct? I don't see anything on the DEC website.
  6. I think it depends on what type of farm it is. A grain farmer probably appreciates the predators keeping the deer population down. While a livestock farmer would probably welcome the removal of some cyotes that are attacking his farm.
  7. Yes, first one was started under Bush, but the guns actually had tracking devices installed in some and program was abandoned (stopped) when they realized that guns were escaping the ATF's tracking. Barack comes along and figures he could use the old program to arm some cronies (fellow drug dealers) and pin blame on American gun owners. He is the Chief Executive and is accountable irregardless if he knew or not. All you have to do is watch Holders smug, sarcatic remarks during tetsimony to Congress to know he is protected on this one. I wonder why he refused to be sworn in if he was telling the truth?
  8. Forget that the author of PM stated this, but it is true. If you can remember back before the gun running scheme got exposed our state Senator (Schumer) and Hillary Clinton where touting the need for stricter gun laws to prevent this. Hillary even did a photo op in Mexico showing the collection of guns in Mexico. This was on the mainstream media for all to see. The ATF even set in place special rules restricting gunshops near the border from conducting business because they were blamed for supplying these guns to Mexico. If this was a surprise to Obama and he was truly not part of it then why hasn't he dismissed Eric Holder for breaking the law? Because Obama and Holder were part of it. If Barack ever tried to dismiss Holder, and tried him for gunrunning, Holder would sell him down the river. Remember, even though Holder did not carry the guns across the boarder, he is culpable. Because he was aware of a criminal act and did not nothing to stop it.
  9. You will cause the animal a slow and painful death unless the carotid or jugular arteries are cut while slitting the throat. The goal of slitting the throat is not to cut the wind pipe (although this happens), but rather to cut the arteries. If the arteries aren't cut then the animal simply breathes through the slit throat and not its mouth. All the while with blood still pumping to the head keeping it alive. A single shot where the skull connects to the neck is the best bet.
  10. As previosuly quoted, "Acoording to the regs as I read them, a firearm in or on a vehicle, must be unloaded in both chamber and magazine". The statement makes no mention of detachable magazines. Once a magazine or any part is detached from a firearm it is no longer a firearm. Law enforcement would be taking poetic license with this statement if they cited you for a loaded magazine that is not attached to the firearm. All the laws governing firearms must be checked though for that municipality. I believe NYC (worst case example) requires ammo to be kept seperate and both locked up. Does this mean I would drive around with live cartridges visible from the outside of car even if I am allowed? NO! The bottom line is that you should always attract the least amount of attention to yourself and don't do anything that would raise a red flag to law enforcement.
  11. He should be charged with manslaughter, plain and simple.
  12. He's a respectable buck, racks aren't what they used to be. I would have taken him.
  13. Sounds like locals. Only they would have enough balls to pull this off. They know where you go in the woods and where you must exit. One guy keeps an eye out for the hunters while the others destroy your property. The breaking of multiple windows demostrates rage also, not simple theft.
  14. i was hunting in Bethel (Sullivan County) and saw 2 does in the morning and 2 more in the evening. Other guys in the party got two bucks.
  15. Good to hear, looks like I will be hunting in Bethel this season. Any recomendations on cheap lodging around there?
  16. I am considering hunting in Bethel NY this season. Anyone familiar with the area? How is the local deer population?
