I own 13 acres 2 of open food plot and 11 pine woods that I bought off a member geno c on this site to my left is 15 acres my neighbor has which he only hunts i or 2 weekends a year , on my right the other neighbor hunts elsewhere .I just got sole permission to hunt 100 acres of land 10 minutes away last year and while being shown property lines we seen 6 different bucks 6 pts or better and i got a nice 8 point which i gave to landowner minus backstraps . I fish during summer months and bring alot of fish up there for all my neighbors and they appreciate it . Thats how I got the 100 acres to hunt .

Charlie as he preferred to be called was a legend in the hunting industry but even more importantly, he was a man of Faith who shared his Faith with hundreds of thousands. VP of the Whitetail Institute, Steve Scott wrote this, The news of Charlie's death hit me hard. Real hard! I had just talked to him on December 19, 2017 and thanked him for a personal letter he sent me the week before. I told him, it was the best Christmas gift I have ever received and I meant it. He was in great spirits. There are so many things I want to say about Charlie that it's tough to get my thoughts together. It was an HONOR to call him a friend. He was a mentor. He was a class act in every way. He was a Patriot who loved our country. He was a legend in the hunting industry. He was a huge asset to the Whitetail Institute as well as the entire hunting industry and the world in general. His writing and photography skills were phenomenal. I could go on and on. With all of his many accomplishments and accolades for the things he did, I'll miss him most for the MAN HE WAS. He was one of the best men I have ever known. Not only for his accomplishments but even more so for the Faith he lived and the way he loved our Lord. He affected me over these past 25+ years in so many positive ways but our discussions about Faith is # 1. That's what I'm going to remember. I also know that he helped lead 100's if not 1000's of others to a relationship with Jesus Christ. What a tremendous mark to leave. Sometimes when people pass away, we're not 100% sure what their after-life will be. There is ZER0 doubt what Charlie's after-life will be. He will have a seat at the head table right next to our Lord and my Mom. He will hear those words we all want to hear at the Pearly Gates, "Well done, good and faithful servant." DEC NEWS ANOTHER CHANCE TO HUNT Late Season Deer Hunting Opportunities January Deer Hunting Opportunities in Central New York From January 13-31, 2018, there will be an antlerless deer season open in the Deer Management Focus Area (DMFA) in Tompkins County. To participate, hunters must register with the DMFA Program and download a permit, carcass tags and a hunting activity log from the DMFA web page. Registered hunters may take up to two antlerless deer per day using any hunting implement that is legal during any other deer season at the site where they are hunting. The 60,000-acre DMFA was created in 2012 to help communities in the Ithaca area address problems caused by deer overabundance. It allows harvest of up to two antlerless deer per day throughout all the general deer hunting seasons, in addition to the January DMFA season. Hunters must carry a DMFA permit and DMFA carcass tags while they are hunting during the January season. They must also record their DMFA deer hunting activity and harvests on their hunting activity log and submit it to DEC by February 7. Additional information, including DMFA boundary descriptions and a printable map, is available on the DEC website. Special Seasons in Suffolk County, Long Island The regular (bowhunting) deer season in Suffolk County runs through January 31. The 2018 firearms deer season in Suffolk County will begin January 7 through January 31, including weekends. Town permits are now only required in the towns of Southampton, Islip, and Smithtown. Well, the article I read was from Dec 6 2017. So it really isn't that old maybe you knew about it but I didn't and some others may have not known as well. I posted it because I wouldn't want to buy a muzzy that could explode because of a failure with the barrel and thought others might like the info.

Just read article that Savage knew this model muzzyloader explodes with normal charge after repeated use. Something about the barrell was prone to exploding.. Do not use this gun !!!

reading the post by JDubbs I want to share a great blind with you guys , cost as of now around $339.00 stationary or can be assembled and taken apart if you choose to. windows extra 15.00 each can be used as vertical or horizontal tinted lexan plastic easy to install.very easy made of corrugted polyproplene octogon 8 sided blind remarkable strong soild blind can be assembled by 2 or 3 persons It is made by the ghostblind CO. octogon 8 sided blind . Maybe you have seen their mirror blinds somewhere. Still brushing it in today . I make no $$$$$ from this but had same thing happen to me with 2 blinds from frozen wet snow as happened to JDubbs.I used a propane heater /cooker in it and it is the warmest driest blind i ever had.except for wood made .Past few weeks rained pretty good here in 4F and it is very dry, sturdy and when brushed in doesn't spook turkey deer or crows feeding a few feet away. Hope this helps someone who wants a blind .
