Strangest thing you have seen/ have had happen while hunting

I once saw two nice 8 point bucks, that looked like twins, chasing a doe in heat, as they were side by side and noses even, looking like they were harnessed together pulling a chariot. They were running pretty fast and less than a foot apart. They were weaving through the trees and this run lasted for at least 200 yards. They matched each other step for step the entire way. I thought I was seeing them with double vision, until I realized there was just one doe. Are there Siamese deer twins? -
Do you know anyone who has tracking dogs? That's the most effective way to hunt bobcat. Most folks don't, but it's worth looking into. This article has the best info I know of regarding bobcat hunting. I still play the wind though and use a mouth call. Otherwise, it's Bobcat Hunting 101 for those who wish to learn. The most important thing is finding tracks. http://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/hunting/2012/11/how-hunt-bobcats

Four armed thugs kick in your front door and start shooting. Better not miss with too many of your 10 bullets. Who needs 30 rounds in a magazine? People who miss a lot. LOL! Apparently, the military also needs 30 round mags, as they all use them. So that's another answer to nobody needs them. However, it's not the point. It's a Bill of Rights, not a Bill of Needs. Like fast cars? Better hope they remain legal.

She is correct. This is how it starts.

Never thought about that before Philoshop. You are right, and I agree. -
Quite impressed with my rifled slugs in Mossberg 500

For sighting in, try folding up a bath towel and placing it on your shoulder before mounting the shotgun. This is especially helpful when you're shooting off a bench, where your body is not at a good angle and can't move as well with the recoil. Believe me, it helps a lot, and won't affect the accuracy of your shooting. -
Jonah Goldberg: "Children are hardwired to play. That’s how we learn. But what happens when play is micromanaged? St. Lawrence University professor Steven Horwitz argues that it undermines democracy. Free play — tag in the schoolyard, pickup basketball at the park, etc. — is a very complicated thing. It requires young people to negotiate rules among themselves, without the benefit of some third-party authority figure. These skills are hugely important in life. When parents or teachers short-circuit that process by constantly intervening to stop bullying or just to make sure that everyone plays nice, Horwitz argues, 'we are taking away a key piece of what makes it possible for free people to be peaceful, cooperative people by devising bottom-up solutions to a variety of conflicts.' The rise in 'helicopter parenting' and the epidemic of 'everyone gets a trophy' education are another facet of the same problem. We’re raising millions of kids to be smart and kind, but also fragile. And what happens when large numbers of these delicate little flowers are set free to navigate their way through life? They feel unsafe and demand 'safe spaces.' They feel threatened by uncomfortable ideas and demand 'trigger warnings.' They might even want written rules or contracts to help them negotiate sexual relations. In other words, this is the generation the mandarins of political correctness have been waiting for." (BTW, I truly believe children raised to hunt and fish will be better equipped for life in the future)

Not surprised. I've heard of such strange happenings on this site prior. Gremlins in the works I assume. LOL!

Actually a low powered scope can help a turkey hunter, but I was referring to the red dot type of sight when talking about leaving it on. I've hunted ducks with a non magnified red dot sight and after getting used to it, it works pretty well.

Whoa! WTH! I posted that photo after seeing it on Facebook and thought it was pretty cool. Never said I was the hunter, nor did I expect people to take it that way. It looks like nobody even asked if I did. I don't read this bow hunting forum too often and haven't been back to it after posting that shot. All I can say is I never expected people to be so presumptuous. LOL! Let me set the record strait. I DO bow hunt. I use an Oneida Phantom and still prefer 2117 aluminum arrows. I used to bow hunt a lot. These days not as much. But I will go after a nice deer worth bow hunting AFTER I have seen it while hunting coyotes. I no longer spend too many hours bow hunting otherwise. I did not shoot that deer! But I have taken a couple of deer with heart shots, though none as nicely centered as that one. I just thought it was a cool picture that should be shared. Believe me, if I shoot a deer like that, I will TELL you I did, and the full story will follow until it bores you to tears. Take my word on it! Wow!

The man has no clue what 2nd Amendment rights are about. His idea of sensible is very much like what all oppressive regimes thought were sensible. When you have no idea how those restrictions are unconstitutional and bad for freedom, you are easily manipulated into thinking your ideas are better than everyone else's. The worst part is, you actually think implementing them will make us safer and life in this land will be better. Since I've already pointed out how it's obviously not the case, with no credible reply to the points made, I see no reason to continue.

Got to give the woman credit. This is how it starts. Fiorina "I think what's interesting about Dodd-Frank is it's a great example of how socialism starts. Socialism starts when government creates a problem, and then government steps in to solve the problem. Government created the problem. Government created the problem of a real estate boom. How did we create it? Under Republican and Democrats alike, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, everybody gathered together, Republicans and Democrats, and said, 'Home ownership is part of the American dream. Let's create a bubble.' And then government stepped in. ... And now what do we have with Dodd-Frank? The classic of crony capitalism. The big have gotten bigger, 1,590 community banks have gone out of business, and on top of all that we've created something called the Consumer Financial Production Bureau, a vast bureaucracy with no congressional oversight that's digging through hundreds of millions of your credit records to detect fraud. This is how socialism starts, ladies and gentlemen."

All I can say to this post is, everything you "know" is wrong. You are truly convinced the propaganda you read is true and obviously never look into statistics to find the truth. Read John Lott's book, "More guns, Less Crime". All the stats anyone could ever want are there and they are indisputable. I have no desire to go point by point with you on all the things you're wrong about. You have to be an agent of the gun control progressives with that kind of mindset, so there is no point to it. I shun gun owners who think like you do, because you are helping the anti's take our 2nd Amendment rights and are happy about it. I cannot abide such ignorance. Have a nice life, but you probably will regret your past mistakes.

You are completely uneducated about the NRA. They will not allow any gun control laws to pass that will only effect law abiding gun owners, or are designed to be used against law abiding gun owners like the Trojan horse was used. I have a real problem with people who own guns, yet believe the NRA is not on their side, or is some type of lunatic organization. If not for the NRA, you wouldn't be able to own any guns today. And that is a FACT! Where do you get your NRA information? Have you ever been an NRA member? People who get their opinions from their enemies, are not examining both sides of the issue. Speak your mind, but be careful what's in your mind and where it came from.

BTW my 835 also has a receiver that is drilled and tapped for scope bases, allowing you to put a scope on the receiver and change barrels without removing the scope from the gun. This option is not as accurate as a scope mounted on a cantilever mount on the barrel. But I think it is OK with a red dot sight used for deer, turkey and even waterfowl.
-
Fiber optic sights on a barrel can be adjusted like iron sights. If it has a scope base it may not have any iron sights. I don't recall Mossberg scope base barrels having iron sights too.
-
The picture of the gun in this article is not a Mossberg 835.
-
The interior of the barrel is larger than a normal 12 gauge which is .73 inch. This allows for less friction, less pellet deformation and less recoil. But slugs will expand to the diameter of the bore in a back bored barrel. Accuracy is bad with slugs and dangerous pressure happens as it tries to exit the choke.

You know it as Putz Numb County sir.

A voluntary entry into a clinic to deal with alcoholism, depression, divorce, financial disaster, nervous breakdown, or anything like that, isn't a mental health issue that is a threat to anyone and presents no danger to society. But the anti-gun folks see it as a good reason to deny your 2nd Amendment rights without due process or legal recourse. Giving the government the power to arbitrarily decide who can and cannot own a firearm, is a very dangerous thing to do. I don't know why you believe the NRA doesn't understand this firearm issue. They are experts in all fields of firearms ownership and are not some group of loonies. they have the best lawyers and legal minds on their side. If you choose to believe the anti's, who often prove they don't know which end of the gun is the dangerous end, you are taking advice and guidance from folks who not only hate gun ownership, but intend to put an end to it as well. Why would you trust their word without thoroughly vetting it? This statement alone is enough to allow all guns to be banned. "It is far better to deny someone a gun then it is to bury someone who has been killed by one." I'm starting to believe you are an anti-gun troll on this site.

In case anyone is interested, by day three, I will also be still hunting the thick stuff. I'll be using my Marlin 336 in .35 Rem with a Leupold fixed 2X and 200 grain Winchester Silvertips when doing so.
