  1. Love using my airgun. I think the thrill of hunt with an airgun vs a rimfire or centerfire is much more satisfying since it involves a little bit of stalking to get in close enough range. It's also very economical to shoot pellets vs rifle bullets too, so practice, or hunting, it's a win-win.
  2. I've been watching the videos made by downwind outdoors, great videos. Thank you guys for taking us on the hunt with you through these videos, it's a great thing you guys are doing.
  3. County does not allow rifles? Far as I know, rifles are allowed in putnum and dutches.
  4. Looks like a CenterPoint 4-16x40? I may have the same scope on my Nitro. I just did some range shooting, and was able to put a quarter size grouping at 25 yards. Looking forward.
  5. Cool hawk, what kind is it? Is it hard to train and obtain a hawk for hunting? Pretty interesting.
  6. Man, times like these, I wish I had a real rifle, lol. I've got some hand calls for predators. So what's the chances of killing a yote with a .177 airgun? Haha
  7. I agree, and apology accepted. Let's keep the intellegent discussion going.
  8. Culvercreek, You're right. Too often people judge an entire group, ethnicity, or population based on the few encounters that they have, or by hearsay. There's always exceptions, and I enjoy finding them.
  9. I'm gonna vote for whomever that shows me how to hunt them.... kidding aside, I don't know enough to cast a vote, but that yote does look good.
  10. nyantler, I wouldn't say that I was confused, but you may be correct that I wasn't strong enough to stand up for my beliefs. I was raised not to cause a ruckus, to stay under the radar. This happened when I was in grade school, at the age of 5-11. At that time, I didn't really form an oppinion of anything, I didn't know many back then that did. Now that I understand what was going on back then, I wouldn't stand for it if it was my kids that was forced to do such a thing. And yes, everyone was forced to pledge, those that lipped it would get slack for it later on in their respective classrooms. There was no choice in the matter. Sorry you feel the way you do regarding my wavering, but it's pretty clear up here in my noodles.
  11. nyantler, Ok, you got me, I take that statement back But I have been met with some unpleasant remarks here based on a statement similar to this one, and was flamed upon. I just think some folks here jump the gun(no pun intended) the moment they see something they don't want to hear.
  12. Walt, I've watched that video 4-5 times prior to joining this forum, cool video indeed. However, I was not aware of the different holds, with the same gun using different pellets. That's AMAZING! And I'm very grateful that you have shared that information with us. As of now, my airgun will not shoot anything aside from the JSB's mentioned. Really looking forward to meeting you one day Walt.
  13. nyantler, with all due respect, your narrowmindedness is exactly what this nation does not need right now. I am not running away from any statements I've made, but I have elaborated on that statement you've quoted as to why I made that statement. I'm sure you saw it, maybe even read it. But your narrowmindedness kept you from understanding it. So let me say it again. I was forced to pledge to something I do not believe it, I felt it was a violation of my rights. I think a few would agree with me on that. I'm glad they no longer require that pledge in schools anymore, because there may be others out there that felt violated as well. I'm fine with it being sung, and people making their pledge, just don't make me do it, because I do not believe. So what's your beef?
  14. Good for you, now try to re-read what I stated about the pledge and what I disliked about it.
  15. Aside from the removing of religion from government, I agree with everything you've said. However, I do feel that religion, in the right context, does help those that need direction and reinforce morals, and we all know we as a country could use more of that.
  16. Culvercreek, If the statement of hostility of God's mention towards me, I would tell you that I am not hostile towards the man, but the fact that this country was supposed to have been found on the principles of seperate church and state, yet we see the "In God We Trust" everywhere, is somewhat confusing.
  17. It bothered me that it was mandatory to recite the pledge. I would have had no problem standing there. nyantler, unfortunately, you represent a lot of guys on here, that don't seem to want to fully read and comprehend the statement, and jumping to conclusions. No offence meant by that, just the way I see it.
  18. Hey Dave, I'm not really much for religion, so when I was a kid growing up, I didn't really appreciate being told to sing a song that involves God. "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." I do believe in the rest of the pledge, however. This discussion came up for me in the past, so it struck a cord, hence it was posted. This is in reference to seperation of church and state.
  19. .... are you saying that your springer shoots differently, depending on the pellet? And by adjusting the way you hold it, you can get more accuratcy out of the different pellets? So if this is true, maybe there is hope for the pellets that I am shooting that are not grouping well with my Nitro Piston? So far, nothing is shooting good groups except for the JSB 8.4 Grain Exacts in .177.
  20. Sorry about the loss of your dog, he died doing what he loved, not something most of us here could probably say when it's our time.
  21. I sure am glad they got rid of that pledge of allegence song from public schools. I thought that was a violation of my first ammendment rights. Am I going to get slack for saying that?
  22. Nice going there Mike! Is that a .22 rifle or airgun? I've been eyeing some of the property at Kent for some squirrel hunting.
