THE GREAT HEALTH CARE DEBATE..
Grouse replied to sits in trees's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
She obviously chose a very limited plan of coverage from her employer. Her husband must not have had a plan where he worked at all. Once again America is about choices. BTW, 3/4 of all personal bankruptcys in the US are about being unable to pay medical bills. The bills get thrown away and you get to keep the house. If everyone gets government paid healthcare, healthcare costs will skyrocket, your taxes will go up, and the government will start telling you how to live every part of your life if you want to keep your healthcare. How hard is that to see coming? -

The formula is clearly spelled out in the law Paula. But it can be changed at any time to buy more votes. The law actually specifies "Dimmitude" in it's text. Long story short, Muslims do not have to get health insurance because Islam considers it to be gambling, and that is forbidden. that means there is a loophole for Muslims to avoid ever paying for their own healthcare in America. I expect a huge flow of Muslim immigrants into the US if Obamacare isn't thrown out by the Supreme Court. -

Some people seem to have difficulty differentiating "unfortunate" and "dependent". Unfortunate things happen to otherwise hard working people. Dependency is achieved by choice. No one is entitled to any government assistance because they made poor choices in life, especially if they will continue to make them. -

I'm trying hard to think if I ever had any form of government assistance, and I don't believe I have. Am i missing something? I did give 10 years of my time as a volunteer Firefighter and EMT though. So I guess the govt owes me then. -

BTW, military service is not mandated. Women don't get drafted and many men are disqualified for disabilities. Early, the government cannot give one man something unless it takes it from another man. -

I actually poured through 5000 pages of selected items that show some of the things the law actually mandates. I could have gone through another 5000 pages, but didn't need to after the first 5000 already made up my mind. Do you think those 20,000 pages only deal with medical and insurance issues? Think again. -
THE GREAT HEALTH CARE DEBATE..

Take care of the unfortunate yes, the irresponsible, no. I have no sympathy for anyone who's misery is self inflicted. People will take advantage of free healthcare and demand to be cared for when they smoke 2 packs a day, are alcoholics, or practice unsafe sex and get a disease. A person can decide to become an artist that never makes a dime, never pays any taxes, and never has a real job, or packs on the weight until they can't move, or drives like an idiot and wrecks themselves in a crash. Obamacare will encourage people to shun any form of personal responsibility. As far as car insurance goes, it is only mandated if you drive a car. You don't have to drive a car, so you have a choice. Obamacare leaves you no choice. The next step for Obamacare is to dictate how, when, what and where you can do anything the government thinks might ruin your health. Think they'll let you keep your guns and still go hunting? If you support universal healthcare laws, you are simply a fool. -
THE GREAT HEALTH CARE DEBATE..

The way it is written, it's a big mistake. I don't have the time or the inclination to go into many details here. The Supreme Court is going to throw it out on Constitutional grounds anyway. For those of you who don't realize it, the law states people who are poor or don't have it because they are illegal, don't have to pay for it. The rest of us will be forced to pick up the tab. Everyone will see huge costs for this Obamacare plan, because it isn't designed to help with healthcare costs, it's designed to buy votes for the Democrats with taxpayer money. Take a look at your paycheck and see how much they take out for Social Security now. It's a lot higher than what they used to take out when it started, and it is taken out on a lot higher income level too. That's the way a government mandate mutates. The government has never been able to take in a ton of cash without spending it frivolously. All the money they take in for Obamacare will be stolen long before it needs to be spent, and the system, like every other system of government, will be broke. Then they will come back looking to take more of your money to pay for it. It's another government financial scam, just like Social Security, Medicare, Medicade, Welfare, Unemployment and Federal and State Pension systems. I'm just incensed the public never learns from their past mistakes. And for those of you who don't know it, there are many things in the Obamacare law that have nothing to do with healthcare, and everything to do with government control of your personal freedoms and private lives. I have read enough of the law to conclude, "NO FRIGGIN' WAY!" And there were many more pages of authoritarian government mandates still to read, long after I said that. Why would anyone support a law without reading it? Why would you believe the law only does what the politicians say it does? Inform yourselves before you form an uninformed opinion. In America you get what you work for. If someone can, but doesn't work, because the government supports them, they deserve nothing. Make it easy for people, and people will take it easy. Why does a welfare mom keep having kids when she can't afford the first one? Because she is encouraged to do so by a fatter government check. Do you think her children will grow up to be self supporting after learning how to be dependent on the government? The reason American healthcare, which is still the best in the world mind you, is so screwed up now, is because the government has been screwing it up for the last 50 years. I could go on with this for days, but I'll try and sum up the main points here. YOU SHOULD SHARE WHAT YOU ARE FREELY GIVEN. YOU SHOULD NOT BE FORCED TO SHARE WHAT YOU HAVE WORKED HARD FOR, AND SACRIFICED FOR. IF THAT IS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN, THE WHOLE WORK ETHIC OF THE COUNTRY IS IN DANGER. DON'T LET THE GOVERNMENT TAKE WHAT YOU HAVE WORKED FOR AND GIVE IT TO PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T WORKED FOR IT! AND DON'T THINK YOU HAVE ANY RIGHT TO TELL THE GOVERNMENT TO MAKE OTHER PEOPLE SHARE WHAT THEY HAVE WORKED HARD FOR! YOU WILL EVENTUALLY FIND YOURSELF WORKING HARD FOR THINGS THE GOVERNMENT TAKES AWAY FROM YOU! THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT YOUR FRIEND! I'm done grousing now. -
A smart father realizes there ain't much you can do about it anyway. Once a kid is 18, the government will protect them from you.
-
I have two daughters. One is 28 and the other 25. Take my advice. Try using this application, or enforcing any of the rules, or even acting like the father that wrote this, and you will never have to worry about what they are doing, because they will both take out restraining orders on you. Raise them right and they will know what to do. If they get to be dating age and you need to use this application, you have already failed miserably as a father.

Politics. They don't want to hear the anti-crossbow zealots complaining about it.

NY Spring Turkey Harvest - HUGE 10 Year Decline!
Grouse replied to Cabin Fever's topic in Turkey Hunting
I agree. Used to be lots of turkey on my land in 4P ten years back. I've seen the decline every year since, while at the same time seeing a rise in the coyote population. It makes no sense to have a season on coyote. I believe they are the reason for the decline in deer and turkey populations in my area. -

The .243 using the load you are mentioning will do the job, as long as you do your part. GUYS GET IN TROUBLE WITH THE .243 WHEN THEY TRY TO EXCEED IT'S LIMITATIONS. Shot placement is the most important thing. If you are not presented with the shot you need to cleanly kill the deer, wait! Using a good bullet, that will penetrate to the vitals, do plenty of damage and even exit the other side of the deer, is what you want your bullet to do. Spend the money you need to spend to get a bullet that will do that. Small bullets at high velocity may fail to penetrate to a deer's vitals at close range. If the bullet explodes on impact, you will only wound the deer. Another reason the choice of bullet in a .243 is very important. A .243 will kill deer, I've done it many times, but the hunter using a .243 must have the patience and experience to know exactly how and when to shoot. He also must know exactly what his bullet will do when it hits the deer. And he must be able to sort through all of this info in his head when he sees the deer and is deciding if he should take the shot. That's hard to do if you have buck fever. Some will say this info applies to any deer round, but the margin for error is much smaller when using the .243. One last thing. I've seen many hunters use a .243 when they had the chance to shoot a huge deer. Each one had to overcome his doubt in the .243 when he pulled the trigger. It's easy to think "I need more gun" when a 200 pound 12 point is looking right at you. That can mess with your confidence level.

Target shooting is a whole different thing from hunting. The two don't compare at all, other than the same equipment is used. There are far fewer variables to target shooting and you don't have to worry about wounding a target.

Think your taxes were bad this year?
Grouse replied to Grouse's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
You are the one who obviously doesn't know what capital gains are, Dude! Sounds like you sold a house once, and paid a huge tax bite on the money you made on it, because you had no idea what you were doing. Corporations can avoid paying capital gains taxes by reinvesting the profits back into the business buying new assets, which are expenses that are used to grow the company and create jobs. My information comes from The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Barron's, Newsweek and Standard and Poor's. Where does your complete lack of knowledge come from? As far as the rest of your rant posted above, you have no clue what you are talking about and should investigate the claims you make, that are obviously making you very angry at the wrong people in this country. You are being used as a tool by the goverment, that would like nothing more than to take even more taxes from the citizens of this country, to spend on even more vote buying fiascos, that they have no constitutional authority to do. The only thing you said that is true is, "Man, this country has gone stupid". -
I have the 10/22 Target in Bull Barrel/Stainless Steel. I would love to see it made as a takedown if the accuracy were the same.
-
Now, in America, if it is deemed you have a right to something, it's FREE!!
-
I don't have the link to post, but I saw Ruger just introduced their new 10/22 in a takedown version. The barrel comes apart from the receiver with very little effort. The stock is split just in front of the magazine. The one I saw was the standard carbine model in stainless steel with black synthetic stock. It comes with a nice case that hold everything and is only 24" long. MSRP $389, but will most likely retail for about $350.

Think your taxes were bad this year?
Grouse replied to Grouse's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The fact is that Warren Buffet, like Mitt Romney and other "wealthy Americans," pays much more than the much-maligned "15 percent" on capital gains. Before being taxed on his profits, the corporations producing them are already taxed at 35 percent -- the highest corporate tax rate in the world. So, in effect, these vilified wealthy Americans are already paying more than 50 percent in taxes, far above the 30 percent rate of Obama's beloved "Buffett Rule," and far, far above his "15 percent" claim. Why does the US government give corporations tax breaks? So they can use it for expansion and job creation. The capital Obama proposes to remove from the economy in the form of even more disproportionate taxes (for expenditures not authorized by our Constitution) will decrease the available pool of capital for economic expansion, job creation and higher standards of living for ALL working Americans. Why do corporations get big tax breaks in America? To try and keep them from moving to other countries that offer even BIGGER tax breaks! The US currently has the highest corporate tax rate in the world (35%). You want that rate to be even higher? Say Good-Bye to even more jobs then. -

She obviously has no clue about how micro stamping would affect the gun industry, or gun owners. She actually says so in the video. Why would she propose a law that she admits she has no understanding of the consequences? Her mentality seems to be, "Let's pass laws and see what happens." The crime here is, the information about micro stamping being worthless and it's huge negative affect on NY State, is out there. She obviously is not open minded enough, or intelligent enough, to look objectively into the situation. The bias against guns in the legislatures of this country is maddening!
