Shot sometime in 1939, Roosevelt Luckey’s buck has held the record in New York for 83 years. Taken in Allegany County, it ranks No. 33 all-time. A massive 14-pointer, it doesn’t do much in the spread department, with only 18 1/8 inches inside. However, its beams are quite impressive, measuring 29 5/8 and 29 4/8 inches. The record buck’s brow tines are also only 3 inches, but each of its G2s, G3s, and G4s range between 10 4/8 and 14 1/8 inches. Furthermore, three of eight mass measurements are well over 6 inches.

Deer are very curious animals, especially when it isn't hunting season.

Time is closing in … tonight , tomorrow and sunday
Grouse replied to luberhill's topic in General Chit Chat
It was a tough year for me. Only saw bucks that didn't meet the antler restriction here and a few doe came up from behind me and spooked when they got too close. I put in a lot of time in the woods too. Finally tagged a small doe yesterday at 4PM with the T/C Hawken .45 caliber at 4 PM. At least I have some venison now to make the grandkids happy. -

UPS now requires you to have an FFL to ship any firearm
Grouse replied to Grouse's topic in General Chit Chat
The politicians may have influenced this UPS decision, but UPS is the one making it hard for legal gun owners in this case. Any business that folds to pressure to violate citizen's Constitutional rights should be held responsible for their actions and not allowed to claim they were afraid of the government. -
UPS now requires you to have an FFL to ship any firearm
Grouse replied to Grouse's topic in General Chit Chat
All they should be concerned about is who a firearm is delivered to. What does it matter who ships it? I would think criminals don't ship firearms with UPS, especially to an FFL, but I know there are some working for UPS that are stealing some of the ones shipped. That isn't something having an FFL is going to prevent though. -
I have sold many firearms over the years online and always shipped them via UPS from one of their hubs. They had to be sent to an FFL, but I was never stopped from shipping one. All they wanted to see was my valid drivers license. UPS now wants anyone shipping a firearm to have an account listing an FFL you have. So now we have to pay an FFL to ship a firearm for us. Just more cost for the firearm owner that does nothing to reduce crime.

Here's a piece of Maine hunting heritage... From left, L.L. Bean, Benjamin Swett (Bean’s uncle), Levi Patterson and Louie Swett (Bean’s cousin) wear prototypes of Bean's Maine hunting shoe in this first winter hunting field test circa 1911.
