  1. As gas prices hit $5 a gallon earlier this summer, Joe Biden pretended to combat spiking oil prices by opening the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), draining the stockpile down to 434 million barrels, the lowest it's been since 1984. Due to other factors entirely, the price of oil has dropped and the average price of gas at the pump is now $3.69 per gallon. The Biden administration now says it will begin purchasing oil to refill the SPR when the price, currently at $85 per barrel, drops to $80 per barrel. All this could have been avoided. Flashback to early 2020, when Donald Trump sought to stabilize the oil industry in the face of the pandemic by buying up oil at $24 per barrel and adding it to the SPR. Democrats at the time objected and blocked the measure within the stimulus package, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer bragging that they had prevented a "bailout for big oil." Some bailout. Now the Biden administration will be spending nearly four times as much per barrel to refill the SPR, which would have never dipped this low in the first place had Democrats not blocked Trump. Now, thanks to the Democrats' nearsighted political concerns, it's costing taxpayers even more.
  2. The Democrats are like people who invite their friends to come live with them, and then try to put them up in other people's homes. If that was done to any of us, I'm sure we would all send them to the homes of the people who enticed them to come here. That's not cruel or political. That's just fair.
  3. Why are leftists not screaming about these subsidies to these corporations? They scream when a Republican does it.
  4. Study Reveals New Illegal Immigrants Will Cost US $20.4 Billion; Trump’s Wall $16.4 Billion Fox News: The study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) calculates the illegal immigrants who have entered the U.S. since Jan. 2021 will add an extra $20.4 billion burden a year, in addition to the $140 billion existing illegal immigrants already cost. The analysis is based on an estimated 1.3 million released into the U.S. by immigration officials, as well as approximately one million “gotaways” — or illegal immigrants who have slipped past overwhelmed agents. FAIR calculates that each illegal immigrants costs $9,232 a year to support. The U.S. has been in the midst of a massive border crisis since early 2021 (Fox News). Washington Examiner: For comparison, the added $20.4 billion annual bill is $4 billion more than the $16.4 billion the former Trump administration spent building and restoring hundreds of miles of the border wall (Washington Examiner).
  5. There are a few that get pretty old in the Adirondaks.
  6. From a man in South Dakota. This photo features the man's grandfather and great uncle, after the state's first-ever, one-day pheasant hunt in central South Dakota a long, long time ago. (Not many pheasants [if any] were harvested on a day that saw 1,000 hunters bagging 200 roosters)
