House passes ban on assault weapons
Grouse replied to ADK Native's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
If people keep voting for politicians who will vote for these unconstitutional bills, because they want them to support their pet desires for abortion, legal drugs, gay rights or whatever, we will continue to see this type of tyranny in the future. At this point, if it becomes law, the only option for people to resist this tyranny is to not comply. There is an old saying that predicts what this type of oppression will produce. "The end of the 2nd Amendment will be the beginning of the 2nd Revolution". Perhaps that is what the leftist politicians are hoping for. -

Precedent? We already have term limits for the President. There is no bigger fish. The big difference between Supreme Court Justices and politicians is, they are appointed, not elected. They are supposed to be the most qualified individual legal mind in the country when they're appointed. As long as they prove that is the case, they should never be removed from the Court. If they prove to be an activist that disregards the Constitution and the Rule of Law, they should be impeached! There is no need to limit their terms if they uphold their oaths.

"We've had an all-volunteer force since the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, and we've had our ups and downs before with recruiting. But this one is particularly significant. I mean, there's two real issues here. One is the eligibility pool itself ... and that is those who are qualified to meet the requirements of the United States military. That number is down to 23%. When I was on active duty, we were concerned when it was at 35%. So 75%-plus of American youth are not qualified to be in its military. Why is that? One, for moral reasons, and that's largely crime. If you're committing a crime, we're just not going to take you. The second issue is medical. And this has exploded. We have far too many people who have comorbidity issues at such a young age, largely obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other issues that disqualify them. ... And then the third thing — I referred to it as mental, but it's also academics in the sense that we have far too many people ... who can't pass the aptitude test to get inside the United States military. That is an indictment, in my judgment, of our secondary high school education system, because the major reason they can't pass the test is they can't read at the proper level." —General Jack Keane (U.S. Army, Ret.)

Who's surprised? Maybe the people who supported Biden and didn't believe it would happen, or hated Trump so much they were willing to impose all of this misery on everyone to see him gone.
