oh, I pictured something entirely different..........
-
what the heck is a "rear naked choke"?
-

Suffolk County, L.I...............they hold a lottery to hunt on State and County land during the special January deer season. -
who carries a hockey stick while hunting? I thought this thread was about finishing off deer in a hunting situation................
-
but yet, guys have no problem shooting a deer just before sundown, and after they realize it was a bad hit, leave it over night to succumb to it's wound, I'm sure there is quite a bit of suffering when you die from a gut shot..............
-
calling the local PD or DEC, may work if it's a deer on the side of the road..........I doubt you would get either of them to tag along 1/2 a mile into the woods with you to finish off a crippled deer, maybe you could get lucky with DEC, but it's not really in the job description of the local police dept's.
-
a wounded deer can be a dangerous animal, not too sure I'd attempt to stab it in the heart with a knife...........
-
I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who would let a deer lay and rot on the other side of a posted sign, whether it's 5 feet or 100 feet on the other side......
-
ok, now throw this into the equation, that same deer stumbled 50 yards onto heavily posted property that you know you will never get permission to enter............now what?
-
both my kids started out shooting a 20 gauge 870, I bought the full size gun and got a youth stock for it until they grew into the full size stock. I started them with light skeet loads and it was fine..........when it was time for turkey, I just slipped a 3" magnum into it, they never even knew it.
-
why would you call DEC and ask if it's ok to shoot after hours if you have no intention of listening to them anyway? and I'm not to sure if that is what I would consider an Urban Legend............
-
there's been a few guys who have taken their ball and went home, they always seem to come back........don't take it too personally.
-
I know exactly what you're saying.......
-
yes, you had your hunt ruined and that sucks......but they had an obligation to find that deer, stuff happens and we move on.
-
I think the type of contest that TeeBugg is talking about is the type among friends that really doesn't create the problems that most are talking about..it's not really a "high stakes" game that would cause people to do illegal stuff to win.........not like he was talking about thousands of dollars to be won.
-
I think following up on a wounded deer as soon as possible is one of the most ethical things a hunter can do.....failing to do so would be unethical. I give them credit and I hope they found it.
-
yeah, on the other hand, another's "hunter's code of ethics" may include following up on a wounded deer...........that's a tough one.
-
good to know they're still around..........hope one of you gets a chance at him.
-
I think it's like a possum, only bigger......
-
what about a 30-06 for an Opossum?
-
I was gonna ask if it's ok to shoot a raccoon with a .270................but I changed my mind.
-
don't know if I'd want to make jerky out of bear............too many risks.
-
I have no problem with any person who chooses to pass on taking a deer for whatever reason and there is nothing wrong with those who do...............people who pass on certain deer and judge those who don't do the same? now that's another story..........
-
Fox are not big animals, they do not hold up very well to being shot with large caliber guns............if you really want one for whatever reason, go after it with something smaller........... a .22 is sufficient.
-
hmmm, there's a lot of people on this board who would be considered "locals"........they live where they hunt, to lump them in as dirtbags is a pretty broad stroke of the brush......you may want to reconsider that thought.
