it would be interesting to know what each person's bowhunting background is..........when I started, recurves were the norm and compounds were just coming onto the scene. Treestands had yet to take off and most hunting was done from groundblinds. There is no doubt that bowhunting has gotten easier and easier, and there is no doubt that is because of the modern equipment............I guess if you never saw the way bowhunting was when it first started, you'll never understand how some are seeing the way the sport is changing, and not for the better.

I know he's got an awesome porcupine mount in his trophy room.......that and stuff he's paid guide's tell him to shoot, other than that we may never know.

then maybe you should have thought twice about posting that big crossbow kill......more embarrassing than anything.,,,,,were you not an accomplished hunter two years ago?

I still like the porcupine hero shot best..........no amount of money can pay for that,,,,,,,,,,as they say, priceless!!

when I was a kid, I shot a porcupine, I felt so bad I covered it with rocks and ran away..........I never told anyone before today.............telling you guys feels like the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders...............since then, I've kept to trapping mice, another stupid rodent.

I got stopped by a cop driving through Nova Scotia a few years back.........he said "New York?, I could never live in a big city"

just look at what happened with muzzleloaders.......there is zero difference between modern, scoped, inline muzzleloaders and a shotgun or rifle........the only difference is that now we can shoot does on a regular or archery tag..........in fact, my hunting group have discussed scrapping the regular season and spending more time muzzleloader hunting, and why not? we have guns that can shoot 200 yards and take either a buck or doe without dealing with the crowded regular season.

I think within New York the snob, hick thing is true.........you venture outside and tell people you're from NY, and right away they associate you with big city living.

that's why NY needs to restructure their hunting seasons......I would have no problem allowing true primitive weapons an earlier season, whether it be true primitive bows or true primitive muzzleloaders.

Being from downstate, I can honestly say that downstate is the reason New Yorker's have the reputation of being rude, pompous people.....you shop, drive around here or just generally see the way people act and you'll see what I mean..............go upstate and just about every person you pass will give you a wave down here? good luck.........my wife and I were in Jamaica (not Jamaica Queens) a few weeks ago, and it took about 5 minutes to pick out the people from NY.

upstate has been blaming it on the water for years, doubt they'll start shifting the blame to dental care anytime soon.
