LOL- you need to quit stashing your jewels where the sun don't shine!

Your philisophical questions are brain numbing! Good job!

Why is bacon "bacon", and why are cookies "cookies"..., if you cook bacon, and you bake cookies?
-
Jack the garage up 2"..... no big deal!

Milk snake I found, Look to see if he has a "Y" pattern on his head.

Looks to me a lot like a Banded Watersnake. Here's one I found a couple years ago. His colors aren't as brilliant as yours because he was in the process of shedding.

With all this rain, even the ducks are looking for some place dry to hang out.

Hey guys, looking for some advice for a potential food only hunter :P
wooly replied to NYchick's topic in General Hunting
Looks like I'm in the minority. I think hunting is easy. It doesn't have to be expensive, and you can fill a lot of freezer space in a short time if you're not picky. Finding and keeping a good place to hunt is the hardest part. Is it worth it....? I say yes to that too. -
Uhhhhhg..., I heard those are delishious roasted and wrapped in bacon. Kinda like water chestnuts!

That preggo doe looks like she's got about 6 muffins in the oven! Nice fawn shots!

Maybe it's just my animal magnetism! I don't seem to have this affect on mature bucks for some reason....darn it! It's just as much fun taking pics for me.

Ok guys, this is getting a little weird...... again! A couple days ago, I ran behind the house to check cams. When I got to the area that I had that deer follow me home from. I looked over to my left and saw a pink ear glowing in the morning sunshine. I had the Nikon so I snapped a few pics of the bedded deer. Shortly after that, it stood up, stretched, and began browsing it's way towards me. It milled around for a bit and seemed really interested in me but hesitant to come over.... but I know it wanted to! Now yesterday, I run back here again in the rain without the Nikon, and who do I see... yup, my little friend. I only had my pocket cam with me to check my trail cameras, so I figured the best I could do was some crappy video. Well, I'm not used to shooting vid from this thing, so I missed the first 2 minutes of this deer coming to within 5ft of me to sniff me out. As she made her way away, I finally got the video figured out and started recording. A little late, but I'm sure we'll be seeing each other again sometime soon. My batteries finally petered out after this clip, but I managed to follow this deer for another 5 minutes and it couldn't have cared less as I got within 10yds of it most of the time. When it finally got tired of my foolish games, it casually trotted off the way it did the first time we met! What the heck is up with my deer around here, lol! If I keep having them rescued by DEC, I wont have any left to shoot this season! I'll try to get some better pics of this one next time I'm through here! If I'm lucky, maybe I can get her to lick me too, lol! Anyhow, click the pic for a 45 second clip from yesterday, and I'll add a few stills below from my first encounter with her. Here she is the first time we met! Crappy pics, but this is what I first saw was that ear in the sunlight. ....and as long as I'm at it, here's a young buck from the other morning and a soggy morning doe.

Be sure to add antlers to the list for #35! It gets a little boring watching the kiddos bring back sticks, rocks, and leaves all week long. Make them work for their roasted Starbursts! The cut straw idea was a fav for me. I'm sure someone thought that would be a great idea for storing black powder untill they tried to seal the straw, lol

You can't use chicken wire for turkeys. Go back to Home Depot and tell them you need a roll of extra strength "Thunder-chicken wire",lol

Cool- first few days on them new legs can spell trouble for those little rascals! Good rescue, and I'll bet mama finds him soon if she hasn't already.

Maybe my plumbing advice would be of some help.... I'm used to dealing with sh!tballs and other peoples crap, so I may know a thing or two about lawyers! Spill your guts before we assume your guilty of something!

Ok- I think I'm done now,lol I could go on and on with different shots of the same critters, but I think I covered most of them. All total I took over 600 pics, so I still got a lot of them to pick through. If you got half a day to check this place out, you wont be dissapointed if you enjoy being close to animals. The trolley tour takes about an hour, you get to see some wonderfull country, you get access to the petting zoo and bird cages, and the food and staff here are simply fantastic. Adults $18 and kiddos $14. They also offer winter sleigh rides through the ranch I plan on checking out this season as well.

Pobably the little brother to the doe that followed me home last month. She acted the same way!

I think the bunny on the bottom is choking on a carrott.... the bunny on top is trying to push it out from the other side, lol
-
In no particular order! I think the hardest part for me here was trying to catch the critters without a fence in the background or between us from a position I didn't have much control over. I probably shouldn't have been so concerned with that, but that's just me!

They had a couple escaped bison. A neihboring farmer shot one of them because they're mean, lol I think the other found his way back to the pen. From what they said, if any wild critters make it into the enclosure they'll likely get killed by the bison or other big nasty water buffalo. She did say they had that happen with fox and yotes sometimes. That's the place Red. Right off 20A on Royce Rd. Kids will love it, and I bet you would too.

Yup, the lodge has a restaurant, bar, and banquet hall. They added some rooms to rent for the honeymooners. The place is really done up nice now! The food here is also incredible and delish! I had my first elk melt burger, and damn was that tastey! I heard rumor 2 years ago that the owner was planning on opening up a hunting preserve on some of the propperty. That came from his daughter, so I tend to believe it. You should stop by next time your in the area.

I'd get myself in some kind of trouble in Africa, lol. That might be a little too wild for my style! Pav- it's in Wyoming County, a town called Varysburg. Deffinately a good time and all types of critters.

Wow- such a cool place! It took everything I had not to jump off the trolley and run around the fields with these critters! Good shots were kinda tough, as it seemed there was always somebodys head or a cup of grain in the way. Some shots I just had to fire away and hope for the best as we bounced along through some areas and never stopped. End of the day, me and sis had an awesome time here and would like to do it again some time. I got so many pics it's silly, so I may need to do another installment... or two! This little elk fawn hit the ground some time last night!
