  1. Purely speculation here, but my guess would be deer flies. The common areas for them to attack (face, ears, and neck) have been chewed raw by the buggers by the looks of it. The constant annoyance from them may have left this guy itching and scratching every other area of his body the rest tried to attack that he could do anything about in his hind quarters. The deer around here look pretty thin this year as well right now, but they will bulk up soon as everything ripens up! Bugs can be a real big stress on deer in the summer months.
  2. I believe it's VERY possible and have seen it first hand.., although I wouldn't recommend it starting right now. I know we had a post on here somewhere about conditioning deer to routine intrusions. It's not something that happens overnight or even the course of 2 months, but spend enough time out there and it will eventually happen IMHO.
  3. I'm terrible at keeping out of areas deer hang out in. I check mine daily. I think the deer get suspicious if they don't see me around every day!
  4. If it doesn't get any better by Monday, try some of these! Bacon makes everything better, lol
  5. You should become a site sponsor and donate one of your hunts to our next forum contest for the winner to review your camp! (don't worry...... nobody ever wins these things if you read the small print, LMAO!)
  6. He's still got milk on his lips!
  7. Nice man! I wanna come over and take pictures with ya,lol
  8. Be careful Joe.... if the deer start eating your blind while you're in it.., I might have to report you for baiting! Neat project!
  9. Things got kinda slow again. I sat the field again tonight but only 3 bucks showed up close to 8pm. Four more popped out just before dark but they were too far away for any half way decent pics. Still no monsters, but that's what keeps me coming back night after night!
  10. Dammit- looks like I'm gonna have to buy a new pair of heals to match my tag this year. I already had my hunting outfit picked out and ironed just waiting for opening day....... this changes everything!
  11. I hear jewelweed can be simmered and wipe down the affected area with the juice....but I haven't tried it. Rumor has it forget-me-nots can also just be smashed to a pulp and wiped on to relieve pain and itchin' rather quickly. Both these plants tend to grow in the same types of areas as poison ivy so get back in there and roll around in some of the good stuff for a while, lol
  12. Aren't we still waiting for the winner of the 2011 deer contest to be announced...... or was that 2010? Pretty sure somebody has still got a free mount coming to them. I don't think this site and prize contests are a good combination.
  13. Only 2 days...? You'll prolly get by on a sammich and a can of Coke if you ration youself. If you chew through that, make sure you got a cell phone on ya so you can have a pizza deliverd, lol! Find an old uprooted tree to shelter under and make sure you dress warm before you go. A lighter.., a titty magazine.., and a shot of gasoline, will fit in your pocket for when you feel cold and lonely!
  14. Those look great, awesome job crappyice! Now stick a feather in your cap and go sneak up on a deer in them! Got a pair in size 11?
  15. My pac is not the best suited for hunting by any means, but it takes pretty much all the abuse I can dish out to it in a 10 month period. I can stuff darn near anything I need to bring along, or anything I find along the way in there, but it does make quite a bit of noise when it brushes on the brush. It was $44 at Wally-world online and has an internal frame. I wouldn't recomend it though if you wanna look cool to your hunting buddies!
  16. Haha.., they ain't dead yet bkln, but I think I got it under control! Here's a couple TC pics I got around the perimeter, but I haven't seen these guys in person yet. I like the little freak most of all. There ain't NOTHING showing up on my timber cams.
  17. Thanks guys! Deerpassion- you know it's a great show to watch..... BYOB and snacks! You're in Cheekta-Vegas right...? Witty- hope you got to see the show as well! I gotta admit, it was kinda chilly last night and I prefer 85-90 but I suffered through it,lol Pav- anything that comes out of that field to the woods I'm set up in dies. I have ZERO access to this field, but all the woodlands behind my camera are fair game. Close to 1 1/2 miles as a crow flies. ny hunter- glad you enjoyed! Nice thing about this picture stuff is I get to shoot them more than once!
  18. I'm gonna be the oddball here. I don't wear a mask or paint. Still kill some nice deer. Face paint's for clowns and hookers..... Masks are for bank robbers, ninjas, and trick or treaters. Most times I got a camera glued to my face when the deer appear anyhow...
  19. Here's a few more from last nights sit..
  20. Time for a few more shots from my observation post last night. Things started out pretty slow, but right about 7pm all heck broke loose along the field edge! I still got a mess of pics to load but I wanted to get a few outta the way for now. It was pretty crazy.... almost like peak rut in mid July! Bucks and does all chasing each other around the field 90mph like it was the 2'nd week of November. Eventually the farmer came through the field and put an end to all the fun before the sun went down. Here's a few shots of that nice 9'er I've been getting pics of..... more pics on the way later on today
  21. LOL- that was my first impression as well! Pav must have his camera strapped to the same tree he's got his pitbull tied to! Still some good looking bucks bud!
  22. Pssssst...., you might want to change your avator to something other than a trail cam pic after a statement like that, lol Other than that...., I'm with ya!
  23. In that case Doewhacker, you should only come to 1/2 draw, and not full draw when you release. You should have special arrows cut to 14.5" for just that scenerio, and get plenty of practice before season starts by stacking your 3-d targets 3 deep!
  24. Couple of fatties right there! If you had caught that 12lb'er durring one of the tourneys, you could have spent the rest of the month fishing! Good luck with the re-location.......I'm sure the Indiana forums are just as entertaining.., and informational as this one!
