  1. Thanks guys! I really need to get a life, lol
  2. Whoa.... I'm sure glad I bowed out of this one before they started handing out door prizes! Just give my free dick to someone who doesn't have one yet.......... like Belo, lol
  3. I think we need to hire Doc back as our 3'rd shift moderator....
  4. So, the other day I found a patch of cottonwood trees that were shedding their bark so I decided to stock up by filling my pack. Now that I think of it, I know where there are several more GIANT trees like this in the area, so looks like I'll have plenty of carving material to get by for a while. Anyhow, this was really my first honest attempt at carving ANYTHING from wood. Now I'm thinking it's probably time to get myself some knives and gouges as this stuff is a real treat to work with. (once you get past all the ticks that hang out in this stuff). Big difference from carving bone all the time, that's for sure! This is only the second one of these "wood spirits" I've tried, so I've still got a lot of room for improvement, and I'm looking forward to coming up with some new crazy designs for these! I just love bringing home all this over looked crap from the woods and turning it into something different.
  5. Got one fired up on my way out this morning at 11:32. Answered to my clucks and cutting but was one ridge over from me and not coming any closer. Put a move on him to his ridge but ran out of time so I let him go silent and slipped out at 11:57. That was the first gobbling I've hear all season. Will give him another shot tomorrow since he's the only one that seems to want to play around here.
  6. I threw our turkey carcasses down in the creekbottom and covered them with sand 2 feet in front of the cam. I was tempted at first to drop them off at the fox den for the pups, but thought twice about it fearing any leftovers might attract some other toothy predators and things might not shake out so well for them. This red fox (as well as another with a bald rat tail) worked all through the night to finally claim her prize before the competition arrived on the scene the next morning. Always feels good to look back and know I made the right call when it comes to interfering with nature. This was nowhere's near my fox den, but I have a feeling the results would have been the same if I had placed the carcasses there. The carcasses were CRAWLING with maggots the day before these vids were taken. I guess that just adds protein to the meal!
  7. I'll bet ya Biz doesn't have one of these on his wall! It would make a fine full body mount that's for sure! I'll even include my guide services and bait at no additional cost upon booking a hunt for this elusive trophy chipper! Seasons open year round so schedule your trips before someone else tags this rare beast!
  8. It was getting kinda dark when I found him so I'll try to catch up to him again tomorrow in some better light for some better pics! I just love finding stuff like this!
  9. Check out this little freak I ran into on this evenings hike!
  10. I was out collecting some cottonwood bark yesterday for carving and filled my back pack with the stuff. When I got home and changed into my shorts and a t-shirt I could feel something crawling all over my bare skin. Picked 3 of the little suckers off of my neck and legs as they were looking for someplace dark and hairy to hunker down. Thankfully I'm a small and smooth guy, and I don't have too many good hiding places for them to go un-noticed. I never really had to keep an eye out for them until recent years.
  11. Belo, quit being a little twat. Its annoying AF and i think you know it. Sent from my N817 using Tapatalk
  12. I tuck all those little highlights away in the memory bank for times like these!
  13. Hey, don't make us get Pygmy in here to threaten to bury your family in a pile of leaves again!
  14. Cool find Larry! I've picked up a few of those over the years while shed hunting, but not quite as fresh as that! Same deal as yours... I'd imagine they must have got carried away by some critter to end up where I found them. You can sand those suckers down and polish it up to a shiny finish, then seal it. Hawg out the inside and you'll have yourself a fancy Viking shot glass!
  15. I'm so confused right now, but congrats anyways! I had a feeling it was just a matter of time before Pygmy finally settled down after all these years!
  16. Thanks guys! I forgot I took this pic of the crop contents. This thing was LOADED with beech seeds and sprouts! Was wondering why we weren't seeing much action around the fields this year. Apparently they're feasting in the timber right now until the dandelions and grasshoppers come out! Just thought I'd share that if any of you guys are dealing with a similar situation.
  17. Awwwwwe shucks.... I'm just being nice to you because you drag my deer out,lol Hopefully they'll be fired up this coming weekend cuz these have been some boring ass hunts lately! You still haven't seen the full spring show yet that we get all stupid about each spring! That will get you hooked for sure!
  18. But I ain't gonna let that stop me from killing them! 3.5" beard on this pig..... I must have shot the other 12" off,lol
  19. Thanks guys! Mark- I think I have more fun taking the pictures than I do pulling te trigger! I don't even know why I take my gun anymore to be honest with ya.
  20. Got out with sis again this morning for our 2'nd hunt of this spring. Things have been awfully quiet around here so far, and the way our day started. we were expecting more of the same today. Finally after 3 hours of being bored out of our minds in the blind, a jake showed up silent to our calls and caught us both off guard. We finally got things situated in the blind and sis got the gun out the window as the bird made his way towards our jake decoy. When sis finally pulled the trigger on that dude, he dropped right in his tracks 30 yds away! THAT'S what I like to see! Nothing but awesomeness after that folks! This was her first SPRING turkey and he even has a double beard(not that it mattered to her) (4" and 3") Couldn't be happier to see my favorite hunting partner make a great shot and the joy it brings her.... and mostly me! Congrats sissy on a great hunt and thanks for being there for me through everything! Love ya, and congrats AGAIN!
  21. Don't think they'll be around much longer. Probably another 1 1/2- 2 weeks TOPS! They're making it really hard to pull the cams and target something new. I hung two cams over the same hole for a little more variety to this vid. I'll probably stick with them till the end at this point.
  22. A few years ago a gobbler caught me off guard while I was out shooting photos pre season. I stuck a deek in the dirt and shot up a ladder stand that just so happened to be right behind me where I took this shot. That bird came in and was oblivious to me being up there. For some reason it doesn't always work out like that for me in the fall while I'm hunting deer. Most likely the decoy held this guys attention, but in the fall with all the extra eyeballs in the flock they always seem to pick me off up there. There's no way I could spring hunt from a stand but I'm sure it would be quite effective. Some days it drives me nuts just being locked up in a ground blind compared to the way I used to hunt at the base of a tree. Here's a shot from above...
  23. Over the past 30 years or so my area has seen a barrage of new houses go up and many large acreage properties cut up into small saleable building lots. Most of our new neighbors have migrated here from the suburban areas around the metro area. With this increase of human traffic and occupancy will come more conflict between humans and wild critters no doubt as they continue to infringe on local wildlife habitat. For those who are contemplating moving out to the country from their castles in the city, but fear for their families safety living amongst the native wild residents..., stay right where you are so those of us who have learned to co-exist with these creatures can continue to enjoy them as we have for so long before you ever even arrived on the scene here. Please don't move to the country just to disrupt our lifestyle with your city boy concerns and F'ed up ways of dealing with them. Thanks!
