  2. Trust me guys, nobody was more shocked to hear the news of me leaving this place than I was! It's absolutely devastating to not see my favorite member posting here anymore! Oh well, I'm off to install some new upgrades to the site! We're getting new smilies today of rainbows, and kittens, and virtual hugs and kisses, to ensure all our members feel loved whenever they browse the new hunting forums! Smooches!~ wooly
  3. Haha- I just stopped in to see if anybody missed me! Looks like this place is falling apart since I last logged on! Well, gotta run for now. Everybody is getting along really well and really happy with my new site! Growie and bubba say hi everybody! Moog- I'm gonna carve that dragon fly and send him to ya! So inspiring! I can't believe you still hang out here with these losers!!! Here's to all my HuntingNY enemies!!!
  4. My older sister was "dating" this one kid in high school. He was on the wrestling team and took karate after school. A real bad ass at the time. One day he punched my sister and pushed her down while he was over. I was too young and scrawny compared to him to do anything about it so I ran inside to tell my old man. My old man ran out and slapped that boy silly all around our yard, then threw him in the truck, and dropped him back off at home to face his parents. One of my fondest childhood memories, lol The next day that boy got on the school bus with 2 black eyes and many other obvious cuts, bruises, and abrasions that appeared to be covered up by his pants that prevented him from walking normal! He didn't look at anybody, and never spoke a word. His father was also the karate instructor in town and I believe he taught him a few NEW kung-fu moves that night, lol
  5. Who's this guy fooling....? Do you think Pygmy celebrates his birthday at Chucky Cheese or what...? I'm sure this day will be packed with plenty of big breasted loose women ...., lots of booze..., probably a few gunshots fired.......and somebody getting handcuffed to the headboard! Rip it up today old timer- don't hesitate to call for bail money- and Happy Birthday!
  6. Why TF is everyone's so sensitive about everything these days? It's a meme, they aren't supposed to be nice. I'm logging off again.... for good this time!
  7. Happy B-day Moho- make today your beeeitch..., do as you please with her!
  8. Oh yeah sure.... "that's all"..... until one day your hiking along and a squatch decides he want's to have his way with you. Next thing you know you're bent over a rotten stump with your nose stuffed down in a pile of coon poop while a squatch is yanking on your ear lobes thrusting his hairy sausage stick into all your nooks and crannies hoping to find that one last kernel of corn to get him through the winter! No one can hear your cries for help (or moans of pleasure depending on if your into that kind of thing), so your forced to suck it up and take it like a man, vowing never to speak a word about the experience so your peers don't laugh and make a fool of you on this damn hunting forum. There's no counseling you can go to that fixes THAT... and nobody can make you believe it until you become a victim yourself! You people have no respect for all the survivors out there who have gone through this once or twice, and now their stories will never be told!
  9. I ain't messin' with no Squatchy! I haven't heard one report of a female Squatch ever being spotted which leads me to believe these creatures may be a little light in the loafers. And.., well.., you know what they say about guys with big feet! He might tear into my skinny little azz like it's a slim jim,lol

    Long recovery

I've learned over the years that you can learn where deer like to go to die by finding a lot of these unrecovered animals post season. I have a few spots that come to mind like that, but one where I've found dead bucks post season for 6 years in a row inside a small acreage impenetrable thicket along a power line. Looks like the streak may have finally come to an end in that spot this year after a few hikes through already that turned up nothing. Good to see you finally managed to make the recovery and at least salvage the skull from him.
  11. Going way back here when I first started turkey hunting... (it had to be sometime in my first 3-5 seasons). I set out two dekes at the edge of an old gravel pit/green field and could hear a gobbler across the clearing about 200yds away. He'd answer my calls, but after what had to be at least an hour, I could tell he wasn't cutting any distance. I decided to make a quick move on him and shot around the gravel pit just inside the wood line. I was so excited to get after him, I forgot to grab my dekes, but when I realized how far away I was already, I decided to just leave them behind. I got in position on the other side of the pit, and got the tom fired up again just down the ridge from me in the timber. We went back and forth for a while until he snuck in silent, busted me fumbling with my calls, and ran off like a rabbitt. Discouraged, I turned around to head back to my original set up across the field. When I looked across the clearing I could see movement in the woods and heard some soft yelping almost in the exact spot I had previously set up. Naturally my mind immediately thought some turkey had moved in on me, and I was back in hunt mode! I did my best to be stealthy, but had a few blunders along the way. When I got within 80-100yds and didn't see or hear anything any more, I convinced myself I had spooked whatever birds were roaming around over there, so I picked up the pace to a casual "un-stealthy" walk. About 50yds away from my original set up now, and I see some camo clad clown stand up and start running away from me through the woods. It wasn't my land,(my neighbors at the time) and it wasn't even posted, so I couldn't figure out what the big scare was about. When I got to my spot and looked around a little bit, I could see where he had scratched a patch of ground clear about 20yds away from my spot behind a blowdown. You couldn't see my dekes from where he was sitting because of a little rise that was between them. I'm convinced that if one of those dekes had blown off its stake that this guy would have smoked it. I really think he spotted them from the distance and "stalked in" as close as he could until he ran out of cover where he did. I don't believe anyone is stupid enough to knowingly set up over someone else's deke spread like that.... but there may be a few that aren't that bright, lol Thinking back on the whole thing now, I'm probably lucky I didn't sneak up and surprise the guy...... whoever he was. That actually turned out to be a major turkey hunting no-no for both of us. Him for sneaking up on my fake flock, and me for trying to sneak up on what I assumed was a turkey in my original spot. Honestly, it never even crossed my mind at the time that someone could be fooled by a couple stationary foam birds at such close range, and unknowingly set up on top of me like that in a matter of minutes. I guess that was a good eye opener for me. I'm always telling sis now when we turkey hunt together that you really always have to think about what YOUR doing out there to be safe with everyone dressed in camo making turkey sounds.... and you always have to think about what EVERYONE ELSE might be doing out there for your own safety as well. Reaping isn't something that exactly thrills me to be going on out there ..... as fun as it looks! Too much can go wrong on a GOOD day of turkey hunting, I don't like the thought of increasing the odds of having a BAD day doing it.
  12. I'm a creature of habit too.... that's why I get rid of them all,lol
  13. Haha- it is in a way almost like marriage! Beautiful at first, but as time goes by, the same ol' meat and potato's every day! Perhaps I'm just afraid of commitment, hence the two ex wives, lol
  14. Ok- I'm gonna be the oddball here. I've only had one deer mounted in close to 30 years. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago I sold him on Craigslist to a guy who wanted to hang him in his pool house. I got tired of that damn thing staring at me with that same hypnotized look every day, morning, noon, and night! Deer hunting... , and deer in general, had consumed my life, and at that point I decided I needed more variety to keep things interesting not only in my wall décor, but even in daily life interests in general. Aside from the uniqueness of the rack, they all look the same to me. Stuffed stuff just does nothing for me anymore!

  16. Nice shots man! Looks like you got a little QUACK in your lens! Sure wish I had a good spot to shoot waterfowl like you got there. Got a little swamp I'm hoping to shoot some woodies nd honkers on next month but nothing in comparison to that!
  17. Beaver , pink snapper, and bearded clams!

    Eye sight

Eye can't see jack sheet no more, so eye just point and shoot!
  19. I get a little carried away with the dekes sometimes. When I'm photographing turkey prior to the opener, I usually only carry one hen or jake and get all kinds of crazy action. Once season opens, I have two additional jakes I like to add to the mix. If I had 10 or more dekes of either sex I'd probably have them ALL out like a freaking goose spread, lol. I like seeing their reaction to different approaches so I don't really put much strategy into setting them out unless they've really tipped me off to something they really like or dislike. One quick example....if I notice the birds are acting timid and shying away from the dekes at a particular set up, I may even set them outside my effective kill range at 60 or 70 yds in hopes that any birds that do come in will circle around the fakes right into gun range. I've had that happen quite a few times with flocks of jakes that would come into the field to strut several days in a row, only to circle the fakes trying to intimidate them from a distance without ever commiting. Obviously I'll only try that with birds I've gotten to know a little bit about their habits at certain locations through multiple encounters. I just like to stay flexible with my decoy sets to keep things interesting. I do put some thought into the set ups, but I try not to over think things too much.
  20. Best turkey hunt for me happened two falls ago when I got to see sis kill her first gobbler/turkey ever. We were prepared to be skunked due to zero scouting that fall leading up to the season, but the gobblers had other plans. I'll never forget the hugs and celebration when we saw that bird fold and drop on the spot and all the excitement leading up to the shot! Two dorks goofing off in the blind pretending to be turkey hunters and we both walked out with nice gobblers over our shoulders!
  21. Happy B-day Miko! Hope you get all kinds of cool new toys!
  22. I've been at this a lot of years and that's the first time I've ever heard of ANYONE finding one of those while shed hunting! Awesome find man!
  23. Thanks for the feedback fellas. I walked out of Cabelas today with NO "blind saver" after some long deliberation. Just wanted you all to know this so when I get lazy and my new blind gets flattened and tore to shreds again next year, I will be back blaming each and every one of ya for talking me out of it! Last year was a rough season all the way around for me, but this year I'm gonna be on top of things....... I hope!
  24. Well, we planned on making it out one last time, but by then it was already too late. We got dumped on before the final weekend of season and it didn't let up for weeks, so there she sat alone in the woods getting buried and destroyed. Yeah, that would work too, but I got a bad habit of leaving things behind if it's not easy to strap on my pack when I pick things up for the year. Hate to be a slob since it's not my land to begin with. Figured this collapsible support would be light and compact enough to drop on the side pocket of my pack so I can haul everything in and out out all at once. Our blind is 7ft tall, and well over a mile deep in the woods on top of things, so that would be an awkward hunk of pipe to be lugging around. If I had a machine to move our gear around I would go with something like that. Hiking it all in and out I think this may be a better option.
