My dad rescently shot an absolute giant 5 year old 7 point on public land. Although the 2 mile uphill hike to the hunting grounds is a hassle it pays off. Thick all the way up, over 20 inches wide, 180lbs. ulster county

I am all packed too, heading up to the catskills for a 3 day family gun hunt. The men in the family who hunt all head up. Wish everyone good luck.

The title speaks for itself. Had a beautiful 6 point, wide and tall make its way to me so quickly i didnt have time to range it. I drew, held for so long i was getting tired. Just as i was about to bring the bow out of full draw, he gives me a shot. I put my 30 yard pin on his back ( seemed a little more than 30). And let it fly.....the arrow landed 4 feet in front of his feet. I dont know what went wrong. Afterwards we looked and it was a little more than 30 but couldnt telll.

Hunting in 3m. Went last night and today morning. Had a 3 year old spike chasin a doe last night, and a 9pt on his dialy routine (not chasing). In the morning i had the same 3 year old spike come straight into my rattling and then top 2 does 30 yards to the right. Big mature doe hanging around, that wasnt in heat yet. Going out saturday, and sunday all day at a property that has like a 9 to 1 doe to buck, but the few mature bucks that are there are absolute giants. Was talking to the UPS guy and he said an absolute MONSTER was run over in sugarloaf. He said the antlers were so wide and had so much mass. The antlers were lifting up the front of the car (wedged underneath) hope 2 c pictures soon

**OER POST DELETED DUE TO SECURITY REASONS** 2 bucks spotted where the ________________________________________ 2 fields and stream connect, to the soybeans in the woods. Soybeans are 30yfrom bottom top/ and 50ythe other way. The owner is an old lady who used to feed the deer in the field from her tractor. she wants them gone. There are 30-40 in field...EVERY night. Where should i place 2 bow stands (for me and my dad)

In the original post, i meant a bachelor group of 6's. There were 3, 6's. one was a 8 without brows and 2 of them had 2 on each side with brows.

The other day was very stormy. I got picked up from school and it was raining....Got dressed up and in car by 3. We started making our way into the woods. Its raining bad now and the wind picked up like crazy. Out of nowhere....hail! No joke it was hailing on our way to thge stand. They were the size of a raisin about. I got to my stand and the hail still going and i hear air raids. Not sure if for hail or tornado. But they were definetly in another town/county. My dad let me at the base of the tree till the raids and hail stopped while he walked the 80 or so yards to his stand. The hail and rain and wind died. I got up into the stand, hooked up, and the wind started again. It wasnt too bad. but i was in a real thick tree that wasnt very tall and lots of big branches so i thought i would be fine. 20 mins passed and the clouds go away and its sunny. 5 or 6 minutes later, the bachelor group of 6 come out right under my stand..pretty cool i see them right after hail. Then out comes the yearling 4 i named buddy. Ive seen him withing 20 yards every day ive hunted that property so far. The rest of the day i saw does. Think its crazy the activity right after that. Would you hunt on a day like that?
-
This is my first year hunting the property all i know is they use it daily everyday. What goes on is a daily routine every day by all the deer. I have yet to see the big boy. only one trail cam pic of him hes not big boy but the biggest 1 there. THe pic, he was facing the woods toward the pond stream area he was in between the bottom stand and the bedding area
-
The pond is bordering the road, too close. The stand closer to the deer trail, hard to put in exact location. Is 30 yards from field, 20 from the deer trail. And a group of bachelor 6s, 3 of them come from bedding to field EVERY single day at around 3:50. And a 4pt yearling comes out of the field on my right and does a complete circle around me on the trail and enters the field again from my left at about 5:30

Its not "smaller"... the piece on the left was stuck inside, the one on the right was on the floor
-
Here it is The smaller piece was on the floor underneath it..

I will put pic of the antler itself and when i get a chance il get one of it in a road sign
-
I rescently found part of a deer antler stuck in a road sign. We were heading up to the property and we were driving slowly up a road. There was a fork off a highway and right on the road sign post there seemed to be a stick stuck in it. so i got out and investigated. So the post had holes in it, it was a ' U channel sign post'. The piece of the antler was stuck in the holes. It was a 3 pt. but at the time it looked like it could have came from a 4 5 or 6 pt antler. It was just 2 tines tho. both of the tines were attached to the main beam and thats all there was. both other sides were ripped off. Later in the day i went back and founf the 3d tine on the ground under the sign. So i think the deer ran into the sign after crossing the street got stuck struggled and broke off the 3d tine, then broke free with only the base of his left antler left. what do u think of tht?
