  1. So how is someone thinking they heard a boar considered a boar sighting? Maybe it was a Sasquatch.
  2. Is there any other state that has the sunrise to sunset rule? Every other state I've ever looked at has some period before and after sunrise and sunset as legal shooting time. Most are 30 minutes each side. NY should be the same. Is it a big safety issue in all of these other states?
  3. Winchester Model 70, 270 WSM using 140 gr accubonds over 59.5 grs of IMR 4350.
  4. The last part was a joke... I guess I should have used a , but they have hunted together. I don't believe he will nominate radically liberal justices, but they will definitely be liberal. I don't see the make up of the supreme court changing drastically, unless a conservative justice has health issues and is forced to leave. I'm fully prepared to fight (in a political sense) against anyone who tries to take away our gun rights, but we need to separate fact from fiction.
  5. Right, so he will replace liberal judges with liberal judges. The conservative justices will hang in there unless health issues take one out. Kagan and Scalia are hunting partners, why would she want to ban guns?
  6. That is the part I have a problem with? When Fox News challenges the NRA on so called "facts" that should tell you something. As I said, I'm a long time member and will continue to be. I just wish they would stick with the "facts". I kind of have a hard time with the non-stop requests for money to "protect my freedoms" too. But I guess with such meager working conditions they could really use more.
  7. It's also pretty obvious who drinks the NRA kool-aid instead of thinking for themselves. I'm a long time member of the NRA and I think they have a purpose, but if you believe all the fear mongering they spread you are foolish.
  8. Actually you said he was getting the black panthers together to start gathering up our guns, but good deflection.
  9. You can blame it on the "takers" or on all the stupid leftys that hate America, but the Republicans have no one to blame but themselves. This should have been an easy election for them to win and they nominated dipsh*t Romney. As long as the radical right (tea party types) select the nominee during the primaries they will continue to lose, because the candidates don't appeal to the masses. The electorite of this country has changed and being the party of white men isn't a winning strategy going forward. It is getting hard for me to remain a Republican these days as they keep moving farther and farther right. And the tea party radicals that spout quotes from Rush Limbaugh or the other whack jobs as fact are an embarrassment to our party.
  10. I think it is a safe bet there will be a spike in gun and ammo sales in the near future.
  11. My brother has a pair of the Vortex Viper binos and they are super nice and they offer the best warranty around. If they break for whatever reason (dropped down a cliff, ran over with your truck, etc.) they will replace them. However, they are not made in the USA. Last I checked the lower end ones were made in China, mid-grade in the Philippines and the higher end ones were made in Japan.
  12. Same here. I think it shows a much higher level of dedication to drag yourself out of bed and get into the woods when you are hung over. Anyone can hunt when they feel good.
  13. If there is no law then there is no violation. Prima facie deals with the evidence to prove there was an illegal act. To say there doesn't need to be a law for someone to get a ticket for breaking the law is ridiculous.
  14. So with snow on the ground and a full moon you can pretty much hunt all night.
  15. Not at all, but I don't believe everyone should have to avoid discussing it either. So should everyone only judge a candidate on what they say they will do when they get elected? Because from what I've seen candidates promise a lot during the campaigns that they have no intention of delivering on. Do you blindly take them at their word or try to find other ways to decide what they will do once elected? I think most people supporting Romney are supporting him because he is not Obama, not because they think he will do a good job.
  16. How do you assume he is going to run things differently than Bush? And I'm not talking about blaming Bush, I'm talking about taking an honest look at how things were run under the last Republican president. Has the party platform changed in the last 4 years?
  17. It is true that some do. It is easy to look at Obama's record over the last four years and decide if that is what you would like or not for the next four years. But with Romney, the only thing people have to go on is what occurred the last time we had a Republican president. So I don't see how you can avoid talking about what happened under 8 years of a Republican if you want to have an honest debate. I understand that Bush isn't running now and he has been gone for almost 4 years, however, we can't really look at Romney's record as governor of Mass because he was a liberal then. I don't see either of these choices making any significant changes. We are in for more of the same regardless of who wins the election.
  18. You aren't going to fool a deer's nose regardless of what gimmicks you buy. You need to play the wind.
  19. I hunted yesterday morning and afternoon. I didn't see squat.
  20. I always have my coyote hunting paraphernalia with me while I'm deer hunting. It's a 270 WSM.
