Can a pump shotgun with a pistol grip, extended magazine tube and fore end pistol grip be classified as an assault rifle? From what I've read , only semi-auto guns and 1 feature are considered assault rifles , Nothing is said about pump shotguns.

5 years ago a local jacked a 160 buck off my hay field on nov.7.Which is bow season. I was told about it by a few nieighbors and I know where this person lives. Can't do anything about it about it,its all hear say. He claimed to have shot the deer on opening day of gun season , but a neighbor saw the deer and the hair was already slipping. Well that's only about 10 days of hanging before the gun season.

Bad day here , only saw 1 tail . Sounded like a party in the woods. hooping and hollering monday all the weekend ,fair weather hunters will be gone and time to get back to business. This was by far my worse opening day ever.. But that's what goes on , on public land.

I was going to upgrade to a new bow this year. Like a Matthews, PSE,Hoyt. I was looking to spend up to $1000 to get it tricked out. But now I'm waiting to see whats up with the crossbows . I have $1000 to spend , might go with a new Horton Fury. I'm not getting any younger....................

Hey Steve 863 , went ouy this morning , kicked up 1 deer walking in . It poured until 930 ,i was wet at 8 , came out and put the doe in the freezer that I got yesterday. Its been real slow , couple doe and 6pt yesterday , nothing this evening. I have to head home for 2 days to take care of a few loose ends before I leave again for a few more days of bow then gun. Where do you hunt? What I'm seeing or not seeing is about the same as everybody else. I hope things kick in Tuesday ,I need a buck to finish out bow season.

Anything new? Had a spike and a doe come by yesterday about 2pm ,He was not very interested , just ambling along. I took the doe , went out this morning and was wet to the skin by 8am. Time to get the doe in the freezer and out this afternoon.

Thank god you had the persistence to go after that spike. The other guy, in my book is not a hunter, you my friend are, to the highest degree. When you wound a deer you have the duty to do whatever is needed to recover the animal. I hope the other guy reads this , he needs to respect the animals and the sport of hunting, this is what gives hunters a bad rap.

Late season is tough , especially in heavily hunted areas.This is the time we all go out to a friends farm and drive the woods. Unbelievable how many deer you can push. We always do pretty good , occasionally a buck but mostly does. Its just a great time afield with friend to wrap up the season.

Saw a 6 pt yesterday following a doe. He didm't seem all that interested, so I shot the doe. Went out this morning and was soaked to the skin by 8am. Time to get the doe in the freezer, then out this afternoon.

Any deer taken wih a bow is a trophy . Great job, they all taste good.

Read the thread on, how long do you leave powder and bullet in gun. There is a lot of good info there. I clean my gun every evening if has been fired but I won't leave the powder in more than 2 dry days.

Let's not start , what does this deer score argument . It seems every time this comes up, an argument breaks out. How about ,you shoot it , get it scored and let us know. But I think it scores.....................................lol

K.I.S.S. keep it simple , stupid. I totally agree if you have practiced enough with 1 pin you han hold high or low according to the judged distance. The problem is ,the average hunter doesn't practice much more than a few arrows a few tmes before the season.

I'm in the same boat here in 9k, 2 days ago was my last sighting until this morning. 2 doe worked there way down in front of me, hit a twig and arrow buries in the ground at the does feet.She jumps and just walks back the way she came, then stood there about 10 min. Then i can see them move off and through a break in the trees I see 6 doe pass.I hear a loud grunt ,then all hell breaks loose , I see bodies flying everywhich way through the trees but never got a look at the buck. The farmer cut the 80 acres of standing corn next to me yesterday, so I think the corn field was holding a lot of deer for bedding. Its gets better here on in.

Where did you get the seed? Is it a blend from one of the food plot companies?

Now I don't feel so bad. I own property in 9K and see very few rubs and scrapes.I'm on my 3 week vacation that started the 5th and have only seen 3 fork horn bucks ,very few doe.Although I did get a doe on the 21st of Oct. I have not seen a deer in 2 days and i have run every senerio through my head as to what the problem is. Hopefully this weekend things will pick up.
