Cabelas 1200 gram rubber boots with side zipper are great. Easy to walk in and stay really warm. My stepson shot one yesterday that was in a nasty swamp.my calf down was the only warm dry part left

The first time I saw a black squirrel was 10 years ago in Colorado on an elk hunt. I wanted to mount the squirrel so bad.on the last day a guy shot a 5x5 we had to pack out 14 miles. Took my squirrel opportunity away. I still want one mounted

Bizr hit it on the head! Under armour base layer is costly but really really warm. I can't wear it above 25 or I sweat uncontrollably. UA base layer, camo pants, an UA hoodie and my gander mountain waterproof/ wind resistant jacket and I'll be toasty. 5.11 makes one hell of a boot sock.

Speaking of blowguns...
hoythunter replied to crappyice's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
I spent 75$ on a BB gun pistol for killing squirrels while deer hunting. The gaskets wore out and the bb magazine broke. Otherwise I'd be taking aim daily. I'd be all for the. Low gun, would also like to have a mini air compressor to power it. Possibly design a silencer for the BB gun? I do a have a Rossi single shot 22 that I have broke down and packed in my bag but never fired, figured that would be too much noise. -
Just think of what he will look like as a 9 year old in 2016

the joys of hunting in a ground blind... I have a pop up blind and carry 2 tri-pod stools, (not meant to be funny), I use one to sit in while on watch and the other has most of the seat cut out for toileting use. after I am done I as quietly as moving a tent can be stand up and move the whole set up 2 or 3 feet away from the danger zone. after 26 days bow hunting and 2 days of gun hunting I am about 100 yards from where I set the blind september 29th but there is a clear white paper trail that leads me to the blind every morning. No real need for the flashlight on the way in or out. I can use either my nose to smell my way in or see the paper trail pretty well. Cant believe I haven't seen many deer. haha

We'll 2, 10s I wish I had the same problem. I had my fill today. After sitting in. The rain till noon we walked into the thickest shit swamp and tried aggressive calling figuring we wouldn't be out til Wednesday anyway. I think I have acorn scented coon piss on My drag line. The squirrels followed us to the swamp. Now home having a great sit in. The. Bathroom waiting for the race. If 48 does well today I hope lowes gives all card holders 6% off. Good luck all. Hillbilly, good luck, that buck your bil shot was nice

I might as well take my scope off and throw it at squirrels. Still all I've seen

In my last 100 hours with a Gun in the woods I have seen 3 deer, 2 small does during the youth hunt and an even smaller doe yesterday at 718. Full camo head to toe, scent free clothes washed in scent free detergent, cover scent everything done the way your "supposed to". Trails everywhere, great sign. No deer. I swear on my next hunt either tomorrow or Wednesday I'm going back to the ways I hunted as a kid with my father.Daily worn Jeans, Work boots, red and black lumberjack or bright red coat, daily worn baseball hat, Jersey work gloves, all washed in tide detergent and dried with bounce scented dryer sheets and I'm sitting on the ground. No chair or stools. No proper hunting clothes and I will be anxious to see if I see deer again. Sorry for the rant. Good luck in the dampness today. Sitting optimistic!

Well kind of similar to your pet peeve, one thing I enjoy is going to walmart at 1130pm on opening day eve to see all of the guys there purchasing supplies for the big hunt. These guys are buying everything from ammo to scopes to hand warmers, even lock on tree stands. I can't say that its too bad to buy there tags tonight because atleast there in the woods legally but its entertaining as hell.

Been out for the youth hunt since 11. We have had enough spiders in the blind to fill a 5 gallon pail. Plenty of squirrel, no deer yet

For the first time in my life I saw 3 bucks sparing Wednesday evening while riding around glassing. Every buck I saw had at least another buck with it. In the same ride I saw an antler less deer mount another antler less deer. The "mounter" was a decent size 2.5 year old. I couldn't see its undercarriage to confirm sex but there is a high population of same sex couples in the area. Maybe it's rubbing off? Seriously though it was an exciting ride, a couple things I've never seen.

Burmjohn, I have the same problems with the woods, seems like every single time I get out I have to go. I usually take an immodium ad when it gets bad real early in the hunt. Good luck
