  1. Makes one proud to be Irish...lol
  2. It described nuisance permits vs DMAP tags and gave the #'s regions used It was actually a rather big article in the paper
  3. Are we forgetting that a very good percentage of farms are now leased to hunting groups..I know ones around us are...they get good money for it. SO I can assume they also make arragements for the leese guys get those permits. When farmers say no to Joe Shmoe knocking on their door one shouldn't assume no one is hunting their lands.

    No Fawns

The doe here would leave their fawns and come pick them up in the evening...not always do they travel together. I Have a set of triplets and at least two sets of twins living on our place...know they are there rarely see them and I'm out daily.
  5. You should check...I think old Fawn cases and certain cke boxes are worth a bit.
  6. Head line : DMAP,"nuisance"deer take nears 15,000 Hhhhmmm perhaps I should have posted this in the future of deer hunting thread.....
  7. I don't like fire crackers...dynamite is definately not something I'd want to handle or be near...
  8. You forget... I'm an Irish/navite American woman...a need to work is in my DNA no dynamite needed....
  9. Never watched any 70's TV sitcoms huh Biz..lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v19PpD5uqL0
  10. NYBH try planting grains then when they just sprout, over seed that with the turnips...I just got back from over seeding my plotspike /alfalfa/oats and the clover plots...I even threw some in on the hay field plot that is a mat of Persian flower weed...Though the mowing I did on that helped the clovers exploded after it and the grasses are struggling...As long as it feeds something this year. The middle plots will be grain turnips.
  11. This seems to be an area wide drop because I checked out a few other spots just now... It's disheartening to see the ground covered like that...might mean with these reds may have a lean few years ahead...we'll see They are feeding something. I crushed one and it was solid meat inside...didn't even notice the usual worms. The pic is from me taking one handful up off a spot.
  12. Enjoy the day and may this year greet you with healthy, happiness, and all you desire...
  13. If you have an attic...garage...barn, you eventually get a cleaning bug . Watch what you toss ya never know. Mr B was cleaning the garage when he came across a wooden dynomite box in excellent condition. We got it years ago at his uncles estate sale. Same box in not as good condition ebay...360 +dollars...Ya just never know...
  14. Used it for years in the garden before andafter the fence. The fence was just a steeple jump for them so I added etra poles to.the existing ones for height then two lines of wire. I tied tins to catch the bottom wire and alternated them to either side of wire. This catches the wind from all sides. Now I use Milorginite to save plot sprouts and diluted deer barrier sprayed around the out side edges on taller plants.
  15. Again Thanks guys River just left and please keep his gramps in your prayers....things are looking pretty tough ...Oh just caught heading if a moderator would like to correct that I won't mind ...Such a shame...he was due for this last week and they delayed it until yesterday...

  19. During dinner he looks over at me with part of a meat ball on his little fork and blurts out..." these are good eats "...lol
  20. I figured it has been all this rain...and the squirrels...they chew off whole branch ends then gather them up..they have been chewed on..but many drpped free of their caps..as long as its acorns and not leafs...the helicopters have been flying low and slow over the hills. I read that around areas that have had blight theyvwould be doing aerial surveys to spot oaks dropping leafs around August. We are not that far from Canadaqua. Its to early for the pit searches,if they even do those anymore.
  21. My walk today uncovered a bit of a problem...the ground under several areas of my oaks blanketed in acorns the size of ...hhhmmm malted milk balls....I had a massive crop last year so I was a bit surprised at the amount on the ground...but why on the ground? Thought?...Observations?....
  22. Ahh nice cold day and night...that means spaghetti and meat balls..God the sauce smells good .. Pork/chicken garlic & onion meat balls baked. The sauce is a pepper, mushroom, 3 Italian cheese with everything but the mushrooms from our place....Fresh garlic, oregano, basil, finely chopped spinache and swisschard, 2 slices of hot pepper. Mixed green salad and hot rolls ,blueberry crisp
