(I didn't really try and climb into a stand with them) On the heel area there is a bar that can be raised and kinda spring locks in place. Anyone know what that's for?

Was shocked at how expensive they were was not expecting to spend $200 on snowshoes. They certainly did help getting across the snowy fields, but sure made it difficult to climb into my stand.

Comparing legal shooting time to driving the speed limit
irish_redneck replied to regulat0r's topic in General Hunting
One thing that also influences speeding is I've been told by police that they have a 10% leeway policy. So 62 in a 55 , 73 in a 65 etc you're fine. DEC have never told me any such thing. -
I would like to see a situation where you must fill a dmp prior to being granted a buck tag. I think it would greatly help with the herd management that the tags and license are truly intended for.

I have a monarch 3. Eye relief is considerably different between 5x and 20x

Comparing legal shooting time to driving the speed limit
irish_redneck replied to regulat0r's topic in General Hunting
I do not always drive the exact speed limit. I set a tone in my truck to let me know when I hit 62, my new truck is so smooth I'd find myself speeding without knowing it. I choose not to take a deer after legal light because hunting is a sport to me, not a food source in its entirety. If I were in a game where the rules were not to go over 55 I would ensure I did not due to respect of my fellow gamers/sportsmen/participants. As you said speeding a little on the thruway hurts no one. In fact it generally helps with better mileage. -
I had a great season as far as enjoyment, yet disappointed in the lack of time I could get out there and the space in my freezer.

I saw 10 doe last night. All together. Just appeared out of the farmers uncut corn.

not a bad spot , but if you can , next year I'd open up some more obvious shooting lanes. you'd be surprised how small of a twig can ruin your shot.

Much quieter than us. Listen for a branch snap and keep looking around, don't make any sudden movements or jerk your head around to see what made this or that noise.

Sorry headspace was wrong term. Leade and throat is what's different. (I don't reload, but do have a .223 stamped firearm)

I'm saying that to say people should not have a stand on a property line due to not being able to resist temptation is more a statement that you should not do it. I have a stand on a property line because the doe travel my edge and its a nice spot for doe. I think you were just generalizing based on your own behavior in the situation.

I've let a huge deer go on the last day of ml because legal time was done. I've not shot a 10pt this year because he was across the line, and by the time he was on my property all I had was an anus shot as he entered a draw. I let a nice buck go three years ago during bow because the only shot I had occurred as he crossed the line. Fact of the matter is I don't need one deer bad enough to risk my hunting license or neighbor relations.

In an agricultural situation deer often move down the edges of the fields, hugging the treeline. Does especially on my property at least. The treeline is often close to the property line.
